Austin (my hometown, btw) is still growing by leaps & bounds... we're not anywhere near capacity yet and being a regular Money Magazine "Best Places To Live" means our growth is expected to continue for quite some time.
While any decision to buy is neighborhood/subdivision dependent, and highly personal to boot, if you plan on being in the greater Austin metropolitan area for three or more years, it'd be silly to not get a foothold in the real estate market ASAP.
Buy now... homes are appreciating between 4%-10% per YEAR and it doesn't make financial sense to continue renting for another year.

I am planning to move to Austin, TX, and I wonder what part of the city is best to move into? Recommendations?
In a little while I'd be out of the service and planning to move to Austin, TX. I have never been there (I used to live in Dallas, TX though) and I do not have friends in that city either. It's going to be a new experience for me. I need some recommendations of good neighborhoods in the city to move into. I'm planning to rent an apartment and I have my own transportation.

It depends on what you're used to and what sort of lifestyle that you're looking for. I love South Austin. It's close to downtown, and has all sorts of funky and eclectic shops and restaurants.
North Austin and Northwest Austin are more modern, and probably have a wider array of apartments and complexes in different price tiers.
The apartments in these areas might be good for you, as many are geared toward young single students and professionals. Some activities include poolside BBQ's and parties so that you can get to know your neighbors.

Hell we just moved to Dallas getting a 5 bedroom 3 car garage 4.5 baths a 10k sq ft lot new built home for 275k
My advice to you. Move there first rent look around get to know the areas then decide on where to buy a house. Theres a building boom here in Texas so buy a nice new house do it up the way you want and still pay less than 400k.
BTW that price ceramic tiles , wood floors , sistone counter tops 42 inch cabinets etc etc
so welcome to Texas
BTW they charge you $90.00 to move ...(Answered by ) |
