Q.
Why does everything I bake in my new baking pans burn?
I have dark and glass baking pans. When I bake in the dark pans, everything cooks faster. What's the rule of thumb between baking in dark pans, glass, and light pans? ... (Asked by Cap'n Waldo Starbuck)

A.
Dark pans and glass absorb more heat so the food cooks quicker. A good rule of thumb is to lower the heat for these. If the recipe calls for 350 reduce your heat to 325 and check for doneness earlier than the recipe indicates you should....(Answered by Daisy M)

Q.
Bread Machine: I want to bake the bread in the oven how do I know at what temp. and how long to bake for?
I am new at using a bread machine and I love it for mixing the ingredients and doing the dough cycle. I don't like the shape of the bread though. So, what I like to do is after the dough cycle remove the dough and place it in a loaf pan, cover and let rise for about 30-45 minutes. Then, bake it in the oven. I have one recipe that tells me that I can bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes if I don't want to bake the loaf in the bread machine but most ... (Asked by ms_quoted)

You will have to estimate cooking temperatures if no alternative is provided. 350 degrees or 375 degrees is a good, average bread baking temperature. I would probably experiment with something in that range. As to how long to bake the bread .. there is a way to tell when the loaf is done. When it looks like it could be done, or when a suitable amount of time has passed, open the oven door and knock on the top of the loaf. If it is cooked, there will be a hollow sound and the loaf will not indent. ...(Answered by June Campbell)

Q.
Is it necessary to bake a cookie pie crust?
I want to make a crust out of chocolate animal cracker crumbs, the traditional add butter way (think I'll skip the sugar). Usually when making this kind of crust I bake it for a short amount of time. I'm filling it with a no-bake filling, and it will be refridgerated. Do I still have to bake the crust to set it, or will it hold together without baking? It's not a problem to bake it, it's just hot today and I'd rather not turn the oven on if I don't have to. ... (Asked by Cookie momster)

Can I replace parchment-lined baking sheet with wax paper for home-made dough to bake?

wax paper does give off a wax when heated, but only on one side...don't worry about harming your food. It will be fine for you to use that. If you try to just spray a cookie sheet, it won't work. The recipe calls for liner for a reason, trust me...you'll be scrubbing that pan for days. wax will work! good luck!...(Answered by simple)

I guess I would check them at time intervals with a toothpick to check for doneness......toothpick in center comes out clean, no batter. I would check beginning at 30 min..... or perhaps make a test loaf.....and check at various times to find out how you want it to finish. this link discusses cooking mini loaf cakes....check it out, there is a time table in one of responses http://www.recipezaar.com/bb/viewtopic.zsp?t=239209...(Answered by lt4827)
