the going rate for laying bricks on price work is about £350 per 1,000 bricks and there are 60 bricks to a meter square day rate is about £100 -150 per day for a bricklayer and £ 80 - £ 100 for a labourer depending what part of the country you live if its a 1 and 1 gang then the bricklayer will earn a lot more than the labourer if its a 2 and 1 gang (2 bricklayers and one labourer/hod carrier) then its normally an equal split on the money unless they have an agreement between themselves the same would apply if ...(Answered by mick g)

It's not from the mortar it's from the bricks themselves, some have a higher salt mix than others or the salt is more visible. It is more noticible in new houses and decreases over time. You can buy products to seal the brickwork which stop the water penetrating, which in theory should also stop the salt seeping out. Best to ask at a builders yard, they know more about this sort of stuff....(Answered by scubasmurf)

Cut it off where it crosses your property. Or maybe you can talk to your neighbor. Ivy can get into the mortar of your bricks and break it apart. Oh and just to be on the safe side, before you cut it or spray weed killer on it - you should document it with photos. Just in case your neighbor gets angry......(Answered by Hokie_Pokey)

I don't know what bitchumen is (unless you mean pitch?), but tar can be dissolved with kerosene or diesel fuel. Ventilate well!...(Answered by druid)
