Having been in the paint business and having done professional painting, I would say to find out what kind of paint is on it right now.
If theya re natural and shiney, you are going to have to ruff it up a bit with sandpaper. If they are painted with latex, you are either going to have to repaint them with latex or remove it all. UUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.
Brushes: For latex paints, which I would not use if they have been previously varnished or finished with oil paint, you use a nylon bristle brush. If you are painting with ...(Answered by Bill P) |

There are metallic paints you can buy. A good brand is Modern Masters, and it comes in lot of different finishes. It has tiny particles of real metal in it. A paint store would be the place to find the best variety... hardware/home stores don't have a lot in the way of metallic paint, except for shiny radiator paint.
Please note, I am mentioning this brand because I've used it, but there are other good ones....(Answered by Oscar M) |

Will you share your secrets for cleaning a paint brush after use with satin finish and gloss paints.?
Rather not use solvents or spirits, don't want to spoil my kitchen sink. And how do you keep the brushes soft after cleaning?
I know lots of these paints are water solvent based paints, but would like your ideas please?
That would be most kind of you wicked way it would be appreciated very much. My hubby has a really bad habit of not cleaning brushes properly after he uses them and I get stir fried over it.

I have a nifty little thingie that you put on your electric drill (bought in the UK). You pop your paint brush (or roller) on the end of it, then pop it inside an old bucket, turn the drill on and off the paint comes - sticks the sides of the bucket (which I use for the same purpose over and over again) and your brush or roller is left feeling good as new!
A quick wash in soapy water for gloss brushes afterwards and - done job! Very easy, uses very little water and much less hassle.
I'll see if I ...(Answered by Wicked Way) |
