Her is my experience: I bought a resonable sprayer from home depot, not hte cheap one, and used it in my home. I was the worst experience i ever had. I returned it un cleaned. It took 4 times as much paint as it should have, and the pick-up tube had to be constantly adjusted. I had to change it to paint up and then change it again to paint down. On its minimal setting it was like trying to paint with projectile vomiting. I ended up rolling the walls, and they looked great. In the end ...(Answered by NubbY)

One moron said use a Scotch Brite pad, that is even more abrasive than steel wool. Buy 400, 600 and 800 wet/dry sandpaper in any auto store. A little water and dish detergent will polish that sink shinier than new. Start with 400, follow with 600, finish with 800. Go in the direction of the "grain". Wash sink to remove black oxides. It will gleam. Great also for removing heat marks from stainless steel pots. Been using this method for years....(Answered by michael g)

I'm not sure what look you are going for, exactly, but a d/a (dual action) sander with sandpaper on it will produce a circular look. Use a higher grit for a less obvious finish, and a lower grit for a rough finish, or if you really want it to be rough put a grinding pad on it. If you want something more linear, you could try playing around with a belt sander....(Answered by hopethathelps)

Having been in the paint business and having done professional painting, I would say to find out what kind of paint is on it right now. If theya re natural and shiney, you are going to have to ruff it up a bit with sandpaper. If they are painted with latex, you are either going to have to repaint them with latex or remove it all. UUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. Brushes: For latex paints, which I would not use if they have been previously varnished or finished with oil paint, you use a nylon bristle brush. There are metallic paints you can buy. A good brand is Modern Masters, and it comes in lot of different finishes. It has tiny particles of real metal in it. A paint store would be the place to find the best variety... hardware/home stores don't have a lot in the way of metallic paint, except for shiny radiator paint. Please note, I am mentioning this brand because I've used it, but there are other good ones....(Answered by Oscar M)

I have a nifty little thingie that you put on your electric drill (bought in the UK). You pop your paint brush (or roller) on the end of it, then pop it inside an old bucket, turn the drill on and off the paint comes - sticks the sides of the bucket (which I use for the same purpose over and over again) and your brush or roller is left feeling good as new! A quick wash in soapy water for gloss brushes afterwards and - done job! Very easy, uses very little water and much less hassle. I'll see if I ...(Answered by Wicked Way)
