Not knowing the type, size or condition of the metal you want I can offer several suggestions. First I would look under scrap yards in the phone book to see if any exist in your area. Years ago most metro areas had at least one but now things are more centralized. Secondly you could find any junk yards around. While their major market is vehicles, some also except any scrap metal to accumulate and ship to a foundry. Lastly you can check for metal fabricators in your area, the ones that supply steel girders, products and rebar to construction firms.

They sell kits at True Value hardware stores.... Take the old one off and show them...
BTW.... If you have young kids and the glaze is worn off the tub you should check it for leachable lead. It the old tubs there was lead in the glaze and porcelain.. If the glaze is intact then no problem.
But if you can wipe your hand on the dry tub and it comes back white you should check it. You can do this with a "Lead Check" test

Cheap home remedy fo removing tape residue on fiberglass?
Idiot, first-time homeowner here. Spontaneously I removed all the yucky caulk from my tub & shower surround without a plan on what/how to replace it. I had tubes of caulk, but no 'gun' to disperse them at the time, so I just put strapping tape & duct tape all around the edges.
Worked GREAT for about a year! So I'm in the mood to recaulk correctly now, but when I took the tape off, there's the big ugly residue.
I've tried MINERAL SPIRITS, pure ACETONE, and WD 40 already.
Anyone know of anything easy & cheap?

Get a piece of coarse cloth, soak it with Acetone or nail remover or paint thinner (NOT paint remover), fold it around the end of a spatula/scraper and scrape it off. You may have to do it more than once but it will work.

some tile dealers and even distributors have specials and clearance items. as an example; i just picked up 25 sq ft of 1 1/2"x 1 1/2" tiles that the distributor had out at 90% off. very small tiles like 3/4" x 3/4" might be hard to find, but 1x1 should be in the discount bins.
google: ceramic tile, [your city or county], and maybe mosaic
and see what pops up.
let me add: if you can use them, check around and find a few tilesetters, they always have a lot of cutoffs that they throw away. you might be able to cobble something ...(Answered by buzzards27) |

Being cheap, they don't cost so much to replace when things like Katrina, Ivan, flooding, tornados, eathquakes, ice storms, etc. happen. Which unfortunately happens too often for my taste....(Answered by lavndrdream) |
