Water Dispenser on Fridge quit working..?
I have a GE side by side fridge with a water and ice dispenser in the door.
Today, for no apparent reason, the water dispenser quit working.
All the fittings seem fine. The water to the fridge is turned on. I removed the water filter and tried the water dispenser and water wasn't even coming out of where the filter is (actually, it sometimes came out a drop at a time).

It sounds like the line is clogged. The refrigerator water lines are often white or clear. Pull out the refrigerator and see if you can determine if something is lodged in the line. If a determination can not be made, turn off the water (at the wall), take the water line off, and take it to a local hardware store. Someone there might be able to help you.

Occasionally the hot water (near boiling) dispenser spurts and sprays out on its own...Common problem? Calcium buildup on valve body possibly?
Any ideas?

These systems are open to the atmosphere all the time. When you open the tap, it actually forces the water down to the hot tank, which forces hot water to come up to the faucet (check it out, there are 3 or 4 hoses going to the faucet). The spurting is from the water expanding when it is heated. If it was not able to expand out the faucet, the hot water tank might explode, so this is a safety measure. Turning the temp. down may help alleviate the problem....(Answered by griffinpilot1965) |
