Q.
How many yards are in 1 ton of 3/4 drainage gravel?
I need to buy some gravel for various jobs around the house. Examples are putting drainage pipes around the yard and making a cement patio, putting some under my deck to clean it up etc. Every place I call goes by tons and all I know is I need about 10 yards. Can anyone give me an approximation as to how many yards are in 1 ton of 3/4 drainage gravel? ... (Asked by DanJC18)

At an average of 100 lbs/cu ft, there is approximately 20 cu. ft. of gravel in a ton. Since a yard contains 27 cu ft. (3x3x3), you have 20/27 yards, or approximately 3/4 yard. Hope this helps....(Answered by woodtick314)

Yes, or just make your own by adding (1)sand and (2)organic material that will quickly rot. It would be better if it were already composted. Any type of humus, (leaves, sawdust, even grass clippings). Thats all you`re getting when you buy it anyway....(Answered by srmainman)

Sorry to say,but as far as my reasoning goes nothing likely to give you a permanent solution but re potting ,Gently lifting out the bulbs by hand will not damage them in any way, wash & dry out your pots, drill good drainage holes in each, cover each hole with a good sized bit of broken pot ,add a layers os small stones or crock or any matreial that would encourage drainage fill with good potting soil & replant. These bulbs are going to thrill you with their blooms for many seasons,it is worth the effort to keep them well provided & comfortable....(Answered by dee k)

Before you drill a hole in the bottom, put a couple strips of masking tape over the bottom - inside & out - where you're about to drill, this will allow you to drill a hole without shattering the entire pot! It's not a guarantee that the pot wont break, but you'll have a better chance of the pot surviving if you do the tape trick! Good luck :-D...(Answered by EJ)

Keep plants in the original container or transplant to a slightly larger container. Place this ugly plastic container inside your decorative pot...then stuff foam or plastic bags around the edges - between the two pots. Top with Spanish moss (buy in a bag from craft stores) or large wood chips. This is how professional plant companies achieve a 'finished' look. The next time yo are in a 'professional' building (i.e. bank, hospital, etc.) take a look at the plants. :) I worked with an interior plant company for several years. Hope this help....(Answered by Belize Missionary)

Who is responsible for drainage problems in new development?
The area behind my house has recently been developed into a new neighborhood of custom homes. The developer is the one who had to send the plans to the building commission. Flooding should have been part of getting permits for the development to be built. Call the Planning Commission or your local permit office....(Answered by sensible_man)

Kerosene will do the trick. Just a small amount of kerosene from time to time. I grew up in a town called "Toowoomba" which is Aboriginal for "swamp" It had a very serious problem with mosquitoes at one time until a mayor called upon everyone to put kerosene in any area of their property that had stagnant water. When I was growing up in the town there were no mosquitoes and as far as I know, there still aren't any because they were all eradicated with this initiative...(Answered by frantic)
