should i paint my cool 50's METAL cabinets with acrylic enamel or something oil based?
i am in the process of stripping old paint and priming the cabinets with oil based....i have conflicting opinions as to what i should finish them off with.....i really like the high high gloss plastic look and feel of acrylic (not to mention less hassle than oil) but then again i want to go with the best paint and durability for the job. These cabinets are 50+ years old and super cool.....answers from anyone experienced or a paint expert please!

I'm a Union Painter...I can answer this for ya...You don't have to use oil base paint. It's becoming a thing of the past. Oil base paints tend to yellow in sunlight as well with time. Don't waste all of your hard work and time with oil unless your painting on a canvas or wood.
Sherwin williams has a product called " All Surface Enamel & Alkyd " It has exceptional durability for highly used traffic areas. Have them tint it and pick your sheen.
The material you will need should cost you under $40.00.
I get contractor pricing...so not really 100% ...(Answered by Bear) |

Bought flat paint, need more durability?
I bought flat paint thinking it would be good enough, but it sucks. Is there something I can add to the pain to make it more durable, or something I can paint over the paint like a coating? I don't really want to go out an buy another gallon of paint w/ more gloss. Any suggestions?

Regency has an interior flat paint is washable and scrubbable.Craig and Rose makes a satin paint that is scrubbable that come in fun Crayola colors. In my experience though, Behr Premium Plus Sateen is the best! I haven't come across anything to make a flat a semi-gloss or a satin after it's already on the wall......sorry! Good luck!...(Answered by itsjustme) |

What is the best way to remove the manufactured ink stamp from new lumber besides sanding, painting or priming
Need to varnish our new 2 by 4 porch railing soon to enhance its durability to the weather, children and pets. Painting or priming is not an option, too high maintenance. Need the ink gone to varnish it, with 4 children ...no time to sand it all off.

What carpet materials give best wear and durability?
I have looked at nylon and "olefin" carpets. One salesperson tells me that olefin is more durable, but another tells me that it loses its texture after a short time.

Hopefully this will help you, depending upon what kind of features you are looking for. Stay away from looped carpets (Berber) if you have pets, there claws can get stuck in the loops and ruin your carpet permanently
^-^-^-^ -berber is one contious thread of material and is basically weaved through the backing... (like when you pull that nasty sting on your nice sweater and the whole thing unravels)
V V V V -plush is many individual pieces of twisted material if you pull one out you'd never notice there was a piece missing (like grass)
-Nylon is the strongest synthetic fiber ...(Answered by Crystal) |

looking for information about the pegasus granite sink from HD?
Does anyone have good/bad news about this product? There is little information about it's care and durability. Did you need to seal it and keep it dry as some sites suggest? My husband tends to leave things soaking in the stainless steel sink we have now. I'm wondering if that will be a problem with granite. Thanks for any information.

Pegasus granite kitchen sink? I would never suggest granite for a kitchen sink. Granite needs to be sealed as a counter top every year so I would imagine that the seal would break down much quicker if being used as a sink. Granite is very porous once it is not sealed so if you have a sauce or red wine in the sink and the seal on it has been broken the sink will absorb all those stains. I know Pegasus makes a granite vanity top but have never seen a sink. I would be curious to know the product ...(Answered by Vannick) |
