Can you add fabric tapes to existing wood blinds?

If you have way too much time on your hands, you could try to cut strips of fabric and glue em on there. Otherwise try spray-painting one and exeriment with dusting it when the paint is still wet or dashing it with multi colors of spray-paint...(Answered by bob j)

The face frames may be a beotch to replace; they were built on the cabinet boxes, or glued to them. Just depends on the construction. The best way is to use pocket screws. There is an angled hole (pocket) drilled into th rails and a pilot hole dilled into the stiles. You can buy a fancy machine that will do both, but it's not worth it unless you're planning to go into the cabinet business. Alternatively, Lowe's or Home Depot sells a guide that you clamp onto the rail to drill the pockets. It's just a block of aluminum that ...(Answered by normobrian)

I painted a pattern of squares over existing paint but now I want to change it back to be one block colour. how can i make sure you can no longer see the squares or that the paint is not raised where the squares used to exist? is there anyway to do this without a paint removal? You could have a slight raised pattern if you paint straight from the bucket onto the wall. I would get a pole sanders and lightly hit the walls with it to knock down any highspots where the other paint finish might of raised the texture of the wall. If all else fails you might have to skim coat the wall, lets hope it doesn't come to this. Much more involved process. You will also need to prime again if you skimcoat. You might need to prime depending on the color you select. You can ...(Answered by damsel36)

Q.
Loft Bed out of Existing Bed.?
Does anyone know where I can find plans to loft an existing XL-Twin bed? My campus has a policy that all furniture IN a room must -stay- in the room, so a loft bed has to be able to encorporate the existing XL-Twin bedframe provided by the housing department. I was looking for some ideas for lofting a my bed next year. I found a couple of plans, but nothing seems to be what I'm looking for... It's totally possible --people do it all of the time when they don't want to rent lofts from school. I just need plans to ... (Asked by thepq4)

It is hard to provide you plans for incorporating your existing bedframe into a loft bed without knowing what it looks like. I'm sure it can be done without spending a lot of money. Has anyone else in the dorm done it? If so, follow their plan. There is lots of information on building loft beds available on the internet. A Yahoo search for "loft bed plans" (include the quotation marks in the Yahoo search box) yields 23,400 results. If you do the same search and are willing to do a little exploring, I'm sure you ...(Answered by exbuilder)

Insulating existing walls!?!?
I have a problem with sound travelling between walls - is there any way to insulate a wall that is existing without taking down drywall and creating big mess with big price tag? Can you make a hole in the 2x4 and spray insulate? ... (Asked by LD at TWB)

A.
It is usually a lot easier to take one side of the drywall down, insulate the wall and repair, than it is to try and squirt something down the cavity and hope that it is going where it is needed. There are different means of sound insulation depending on the circumstances... Acoustic engineers take into consideration the background noise (does a train go past every 30 seconds) etc and actually calculate the resistance needed to achieve the required outcome. Even if you are doing it yourself, you also need to investigate the level of sound attenuation that you need... for ...(Answered by gazpacho)

Can we install ceramic tile over existing backerboard after removing the vinyl currently installed on it?
When we remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago, we were told we needed to put down cement backerboard before the vinyl could be installed (to insure proper warranty of the vinyl). So we did. Now we would like to replace the vinyl with ceramic tile. Can we simply remove the vinyl and use the existing backerboard to install the tile on? We want a quality tile job, but would like NOT to have to take up the backboard and put down new backerboard. ... (Asked by Beach Lover)

To immediately answer the Q,,,Certainly! The fact that it's already the proper substrate is to your advantage. All you need do is remove as much adhesive residue, as possible, for a smooth flow of tile mortar and a level/plum surface upon application. After installing thousands of sq. ft. of tile, I've run into this often, and never had a problem. Rev. Steven...(Answered by Steven W)

Q.
Putting slipcover over existing attached slip cover?
I bought a large sofa (just flat/solid, no removable seats) with a slipcover attached to it that matched my living room. It's very tightly covered and i think it's sewn at the bottom, but you can still lose money and other things on the sides and the back and there's a lot of space because the pre-existing slipcover had to be tucked in it. That was 2 years ago, now I have changed the color of my room to brighten it up and the slipcover's colors on my sofa doesn't match. I was thinking about buying a new slipcover to ... Sounds like the one that is in there was installed by a professional. There is much more to putting a slip cover on a sofa than one would think if you want it to look good. The reason why you still lose change and soforth is because it was sewn or pinned on tight. You could try to remove it and reconstruct the way it was or take it to an upholstering pro. If you decide to do it yourself, then carefully remove it. There are extremely large straight and curved shaped pins holding it in place. You will want ...(Answered by Realty Shark)
