I don't want to only enjoy a week's worth of homegrown tomatoes and then have to start buying them from the store again, and I don't want to can them either. So can I freeze them whole? ... Yes, you sure can freeze them. Cut them up in small portions or just freeze the smaller ones whole. They're good for soups & stews, veggie dishes.\ You can also slice up the fresh green ones, dip in egg mixture & flour & sautee until slightly brown. Or sautee them without the breading. They're delicious that way....(Answered by Bluealt)

We had a hard freeze last night here in Nashville and many of our shrubs had new growth. What do we do now?
This morning the Heavenly Bamboos, PJM Rhodies, Serviceberry and Knockout roses look bad. The new growth is limp. Did it freeze? Is there any point in covering the plants the next couple of nights when it will freeze again? What do we do with the frozen growth once the weather warms? ... (Asked by Retired bookworm)

Yes, definitely recover them, maybe a little better this time. After it warms up outside go ahead and access the damage and trim them back. Cut off anything that looks damaged. It is easier for the plant to recover if it isn't using it's energy to recover wounds....(Answered by t2ensie)

if the temps get way down, it will freeze the leaves. however the roots will continue to support the plant throughout the growing season and your hostas will be fine. they may be compromised a little from a size standpoint, but you can minimize this by mulching over for the cold snap or covering them over with towels or blankets. just make sure you don't use something like a plastic bag as the freezing temps will go right through.....(Answered by shelley_jacqueline)

Oak trees have been around for a million years. They are adapted to suffer a couple of untimely freezes and survive. The tree may look kind of crappy this year, but unless it was already weakened by parasites, disease or herbicides, it will probably survive. There is a website for organic gardening techniques you can visit......(Answered by chocolahoma)

Will newly planted grapes survive a freeze and come back after the new leaves have died?
We planted young grape plants purchased from Sams Club around 3 weeks ago. We just had a freeze and the leaves have died and fallen off. Does this mean the plant is dead? If not how long would we have to wait to see if they will come back and grow again? If they are dead where can we go to get new ones? They are probably ok. If you have a deciduous tree or vine that you question if it is still alive, scratch a small spot on the bark towards the end of a smaller stem and see if there is a green layer directly underneath. If not then work back down the branch until you find some green. This is the cambium. If it is green, you have a live plant or branch. It will probably take a few weeks, maybe quicker, for it to bud out again, but it should be fine. "If you suspect your vines have been winter injured, ...(Answered by Cactusflinthead)

Actually, Roundup will freeze. Problem is Glyphosate, the main active ingredient, becomes less effective if it ever freezes. Round-up is foliage activated, so a good dousing should do it. Check your concentrations on the bottle. Round-up sold at different locations has different concentrations of Glyphosate. Or like someone else recommended...use gas....(Answered by gacuteone)
