How do I share my balcony with a bird who has made her nest there and can I make her help with the rent?
A bird has made its nest on the corner of my balcony. I don't use it for much except to go out and sit and read sometimes so it's not a huge sacrifice if I can't use it til the babies fly away. But how long should that be? I can't see if the eggs are hatched or not but judging by how protective the mother is (she flew back to the railing when I stepped outside once) I imagine she's already laid her eggs. Also, I don't want to scare her into abandoning the nest ... (Asked by TEKY) |

It will only be a few weeks till the babies are ready to fledge. It all happens pretty quickly. If she seems comfortable with you being there I don't see any reason why you can't take a picture, just try to watch and wait for her to fly off to get food before you do. Do it quickly and try not to disturb the nest or babies. Feel privileged to have her think your home was good enough for hers:)...(Answered by ♥Doc.Shell♥) |

How do I get fleas out of the house?
I have a flea infestation! I got rid of my cats, but can't get rid of the bugs. I thought I had most of them, but it seems that new ones have hatched(they are much smaller than the first round). I vacuum and I sprayed the furniture with an IGR insecticide. I am pregnant and don't want to use too many chemicals in the house, but I have to get rid of the fleas. It seems we have more now than when I started. I bought one of the flea traps with the light and glue pad and that works ... (Asked by rachely1) |

I know fleas
I have had infestations several times.
Don't waste money on the lamps. All they do is give the fleas enough light to find some food.
The problem with using one chemical[ yes, you HAVE to use chemicals-sorry] is, most chemicals do not kill fleas in all life cycles. One treatment may kill the fleas themselves but have no effect on the larvae or the eggs that have been deposited in your bedding, furniture and carpet.[yes! your bedding} So you may have eliminated the fleas.....but the eggs hatch, produce more larvae and...ad infinatum.
Find a treatment the will kill fleas AND their ...(Answered by sasha1641) |

How long before I can knock down a bird's nest?
We just moved into a house and there are all kinds of bird's nests on our house. I had my husband knock down one and told him not to tell me if there were babies inside.
He hasn't got to the rest yet and now there is one inside the garage. He ended up telling me there were babies in the one he knocked down. I feel bad enough about that so I don't think I can let him knock down 4 more!
Anyone know how long before the eggs are hatched and babies can be on there own, ... (Asked by cqueen4) |

I agree with most of the other posts. Why rip them down, they may not look really pretty on your house but I think you can survive a few weeks with them, why is the life of baby birds worth your house looking a wee bit prettier? Just look at the nests, do you see any eggs or babies? Is there an adult flying back and foth, prepping it? Just wait until there is no evidence of babies and then take them down if you really must, though personally I don't mind them I think it's cool when you can ...(Answered by tjmunch) |
