my aunt and uncle went to hawaii and he picked one up to bring home but the hotel manager told them stories of people mailing the rocks back after taking them home bc of the bad luck they were having- my uncle decided to return the rock to where he found it rather than test that theory leave the rocks- better off...(Answered by juanita4653)

You're in luck, my wife is Hawaiian! Hibiscus = Aloalo, koki'o Red Ginger = 'ula'ula 'Awapuhi Bird of Paradise = Manu ko Palekaiko These are the actual Hawaiian language words. If you want to know the pidgon words I can tell you those too ;)...(Answered by mynameisdennis)

Discoloration on my hawaiian schefflera leaves?
I adopted a newly sprouted Hawaiian Schefflera. I keep watered regularly and "mist" it. I always empty the saucer after the water drains through to prevent root rot. I also repotted it to give it more room and provide it with soil that "feeds". However, a few leaves look discolored and slightly dried out. I keep it in an eastern window seal where it gets anywhere from 12 to 14 hours of sun. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance! ... (Asked by KND)

Sounds like you doing everthing right! All plants lose leaves/or have discolored ones periodically.If it gets worse try a little less full sun. A rule of thumb is that the lighter the leaves, the less sun tolerant a plant usually is....(Answered by ilvflsun1960)
