I have wholehouse unit (Whirlpool). I am amazed at the sediment etc that it traps. I put it in a new house with municipal water about a year ago. I change the filter every 6 months, with no effects on water pressure etc. It does get visibly dirty, so I am happy I installed it. Very easy to install as well....(Answered by Leonidas)

What are you doing to preserve gasoline in this price hike?
I have stopped making quick trips to the towns around, so I stocked up and bought 2 cases of toilet paper, 5 cans of deoderant, 3 jugs of fabric softner, 3 jugs of laundry detergent, 4 cans spray starch and a whole bunch of stuff I always run out of. I live 20 miles from the nearest Super Walmart. I am always running out of things and have to go get it. What are some things you have done to preserve gas? ... (Asked by happydawg)

We´ve been eating leftovers more often to cut down on my grocery store runs. It´s amazing what we´ll eat out of our pantry that has been sitting on the shelf just waiting to be eaten. I also have been shopping at a nearer grocery store-it´s not my favorite, but it´s a 5 min. walk from our home....(Answered by Breezer)

OUCH IE !!!! Soak your hand in hot soapy water, for at least 20 minutes . Then hopefully you can pull them out with tweezers . If that does not remove, all the thorns go to >>>>> A& E and let them see, if they can remove them for you you will need anti biotics and a tetanus injection in case of infection . Nature will eventually, push any really stubourn ones out in the same way , it deals with wood splinters ( this could take a week ir two ...(Answered by sweet-cookie)

You could also try E-Bay, list in your local paper, put flyers up at the colleges and local businesses, or contact a company that helps you sell your home. I personally recommend the last one. They can list your home in the MLS and online. A lot of people do their house hunting online, especially with gas prices being so high....(Answered by Amanda)

Will I have to pay BGE if I go with a phase-in of a rate hike, but move within the next year?
BGE (Baltimore Gas and Electric) is jacking up rates in Baltimore, but offering a gradual rate-increase plan that includes 5% interest over the next couple of years. My guess is that your answer rests in the fine print of any agreement you sign with the utility company. They should be able to explain their policy for dealing with an account in the type of situation you anticipate. Call their customer service department for clarification. Good luck with your search for information....(Answered by exbuilder)

Q.
Do you have a composting toilet attached to your home? I was reading about a cohousing community in which all?
the units had composting toilets - however, when I've used them on hikes they've been kind of smelly (though much less than a traditional outhouse!) and not something I would like attached to my house. I also have friends who are reusing their waste by composting it with layers of sawdust. Have you done this? ... (Asked by jane7)

A.
A correctly installed composting toilet will have no odor, and the compost medium is usually peat moss. After each use the medium is stirred mechanically, mixing the waste, accelerating the compost process. The internal temp is also critical, and must be held at 75 degrees F or higher. In the long run they would save billions of gallons of domestic water usage. Their waste by product is a rich odorless fertilizer with the appearance of common soil. An idea who's time has come. I have one going in here this summer....(Answered by Gunny T)

When will golf courses be made illegal throughout the world?
It's well established now both that global warming is a very real international crisis akin to the threat of nuclear holocaust in its end result, and the threat is increasing with every day, and every plane taken by every traveller, and every car taken down the road. .. and every golf course that uses water that spreads fertilizer and pesticide around the near countryside, when the land could be returned to native trees for more oxygen for us all, and for birds to in turn help promote growth of more trees elsewhere. My wife had a cancer operation that removed half her insides and we decided to purchase a compact washer and dryer at Home Depot to have upstairs. The sales person told us that an extended warranty would make sure that we would have no problems until the year 2010 and if a tech had to come out more than 3 times they would replace it. Well the dryer broke at christmas and 4 tech visits later It's still not fixed and needs to be junked. After 2 days of phone calls and my wife in tears Home Depot offered us ... (Asked by poky)

My philosophy regarding extended warranties? I am betting them the product will break, and they're betting me it won't. I went to a local tv/appliance store years ago to buy a portable b&w tv. It was $44. The salesman asked me if I was interested in the extended warranty. He said 1 year was $24, 2 years was $48, and 3 years was $72!. I said no. He said "But what if it breaks?"
