Yellow Jackets getting into my house?
There are Yellow Jackets getting into one room of our house (upstairs bedroom). They mostly collect inside one of the window sills and then die because they can't get out but a few actually get into the room everyday.
They are almost always small and dead or dying.
Over the last 3 years we have had a few nests removed from our attic and gutter areas by contractors that we're doing work in those areas. The nests appeared to be dead (although at time of removal there were a few bees flying around).

In our last house in the woods, we used to get them alot. They would get in the attic and the chimney. We would tape a plastic garbage bag across the fireplace and set off one of those can bug bombs inside it. The same for the attic and leave the home until it was safe according to the instructions on the bug bombs. We had to do it yearly, as every time we would light the fireplace for the first time, they would start buzzing around. You might could hire a professional exterminator ...(Answered by treedle) |

How Do I get Rid of Yellow Jackets?
I have a hive in the Crawl Space of my house. We watched about 20 bees enter and 50 bees exit in a 5 minute period, so I am assuming it is a large Hive. How do I get rid of this without calling an exterminator, I can't afford what they want. Thank you for any help you can provide!
Okay maybe this is not a hive, but they are definatley Yellow Jackets and since they are in the Crawl of My House, using gasoline is not really an option.

well, there is no way to use a tiller, wearing a full jumpsuit/golves,boots/headgear, so you'r only option is to use multiple smokers all day long and then seal the crawl space air tight...(Answered by man_marathon) |

What is the best way to keep yellow jackets away?
I work at a school and our playground area is constantly under attack from yellowjackets. I have put up many traps with SPAM which they love and it gets alot of them, however they still bother the kids. I was wondering if anyone knew of any home remedies or tricks that will keep them away. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I use WD-40 to kill them. But to keep them away....don't know. Ultrasonic bug devices maybe? And I mark where they are during the day and kill them at night when I know they are all in the nest.
You could set out poison baits using fruit or spam to lure them to the poison. I would do this on a Friday when you know the kids are not going to be at the school until Monday and set the poison in areas where the kids can't get to them.
