Q.
How much do people charge to mow and trim lawns, under & over 1 acre?
We are thinking of trying this. We have all the necessary equipment and a trailer to haul with. We are in NE Tennessee, and many folks have about an acre of land. Being unemployed for some time, my husband thought we might try this. Thanks for your replies! My husband has done this work before, years ago, so it is not completely new to him. Never did it with a rider before! We have the blower thingy, and the edger....I think one thing is to clearly understand what people want, and DON'T want done. ... (Asked by simpleheart)

We have about two acres mowed. The company that does it charges $90.00. That includes trimming with a weedwacker and blowing the grass from patio and driveway! They are careful not to cut the bark off trees with the mowers or the trimmers. I live in a state similiar to TN.....rural...mountains....etc.......(Answered by wedgemom)

I don't understand your definition of "need"... I understand that "home-owners groups" will have requirements regarding landscaping, and that some cities will have ordinances requiring landscaping. It would also required a definition of "weed": clover might be one man's lawn and another man's weed !! There are areas such as my brother's ranch were you want to knock DOWN the weeds. For various reasons: for fire-safety, animal health (Star-Thistle will kill your horses), or to remove cover for pest-animals. He has one "lawn"... a 12'x20' section of his backyard where he likes to sit in his hammock and read. The rest ...(Answered by mariner31)

In Utah, we have to water our lawns. We live in the Great Basin Desert. We are the second driest state in the nation and only receive about 16" of water per year. We water our lawns and it's not a waste as long as we water properly. Unfortunately some people here water every day or every other day. That is a waste. Kentucky Blue Grass only needs water twice a week. I personally have very little lawn. I live on 1/3 of an acre and only have about 800 square feet of lawn. ...(Answered by buddleiad)

Why are people here in the USA so obsessed with their 'perfect lawns'?
Each Spring I see the obsessive ones-- they Weed-N-Feed their grass almost to the point of killing it,using edgers, blowers and clippers for hours on end,mow the lawn every other day...one neighbor mows his EACH day...and I never understood it.Don't get me wrong,I am an avid gardener and do take pride in my yard, but this type of behavior leaves me scratching my head...and kind of wishing that I had that much time on my hands! ... The only reason I keep my lawn in such shape and take care of it as best I can is that to me, it is the only good part of Mother Nature that we have near us that we have not destroyed in order to build all the houses, roads, sidewalks, etc. I just do the lawn once a week and make sure it is alive and well when I need to help it. (Water, etc.). I am like you, the yard is part of our life and we love our gardens!!!...(Answered by draftmedown)

A.
These tend to grow out of the decaying roots of a tree or large shrub that has been cut down in the past. Oftentimes, the stump has been removed or ground to a level below the lawn surface leaving the radiating roots close to the surface of the ground intact. It can take only a few, or sometime a lot of years before the mushrooms appear. Since the roots grow in a circular direction from the center of the stump, the mushrooms tend to grow in a circle. Hence, the term "fairy ring". Many people ...(Answered by exbuilder)
