try soaking them in warm water whilst on your feet it allows the fabric to soften and mould to the natural shape of your feet. sounds silly but it works...(Answered by kerrie c)

Need Help with Leather refurbishing ASAP?
just pulled out my old leather coat. Its been in storage for a while, and even before then it was in used condition (hand-me-down). The coat is double breasted, 3/4 length black leather and the only problems are that the leather is stiff and feels hard, and there are 5 missing buttons and small pea-sized holes in the leather where the buttons used to be. I need any information on how to repair this coat and get it into the best condition possible for as little money as possible and I need the coat to be ready to wear by ... (Asked by tecsklls9)

clean the coat with saddle soap and then, if it still needs it, rub it with neatsfoot oil. Your coat needs some TLC. Read the directions on the saddle soap and neatsfoot oil jars and follow them precisely, but be real gentle on the leather until it becomes supple again. Sewing hte buttons back on should be pretty standard as sewing buttons, but use a strong needle....(Answered by John)

Q.
Recoloring a green leather sofa. What's best?
Our forest green leather sectional sofa is almost 10 years old, and has seen a lot of use, but not abuse. The leather of the seats has a crazed look, as if the green finish has separated from the leather, perhaps. I would like to restore the sofa leather to look fresher and consistently the same color. I have used mink oil, neat's foot oil, and a leather treatment I got at the shoe store, but nothing's changed other than the leather is a little more supple. Is my next logical step to find a green shoe or ... (Asked by ohhhdear)

If you still like the sofa alot, but don't like how it looks worn. You could update it by getting it reapolstered. They may be able to redo the cushions and put whatever fabric or leather on you choose. If you dont want to go through all that, then it may be time to buy a new sofa!...(Answered by blueroan2000)

Good Question! And I have an answer for you! My friend and co-worker wore her leather Nicole Miller jacket to the hardware store with her husband and somehow got WHITE paint on it!!! ouch! When they got home she put it on the table to prepare to clean, then took care of the kids and forgot all about it until the next day. Long story short, she took a cotton ball and used "Sol-U-Mel" full strength on the paint streak and it came right off! She then used "Rustic Touch" polish for the entire coat. Both of these products ...(Answered by SWSunflower)

Is my leather bag staining my pants?
I have a brown leather messenger bag that is, I think, staining the upper part of my pants (looks black and dirty) that connects with the bag. The bag isn't muddy or dusty, so I'm not sure what the stain is. Is it possibly something in the leather (oil) is causing the stain, and please tell me what I should do about it? Scotch Guard's leather stuff or some other proctectant? Just try to clean it myself? Professional cleaning? Please help! Thanks so much! ... (Asked by Nicholas H)

You have 2 problems here. 1. You have to clean your pants - take to drycleaner and tell them about your leather bag. 2. You have to seal the leather on your bag - Get a sealant from your nearest shoe store, spray on let dry and spray on again, or follow the directions....(Answered by PP4865)

Leather - a very short primer. The best leather you can buy is top-grain. This means that the material is from the outermost layer of the hide. Cow hide, for instance, is up to about 1/2 inch thick. The outer layer is the toughest, like our own skin is. This leather will hold up much better than the 'splits', the thinly sliced layers below the top grain. Unfortunately, many companies do not use top grain leather. This could be part of the problem. Coloring leather is done in several ways. The best method is for the leather to be dyed completely through, ...(Answered by faireminded1)

Bring it to the dry cleaners. I have had mine done there and it came back beautiful They also have oils that you can put onto the leather to keep it shape after it is cleaned. Need to clean white leather sofa?
I need to clean my white leather sofa and also the leather interior of my car, which is very light grey. I cannot afford to have them professionally cleaned or spend big bucks on a tiny amount of leather cleaner. Is there an ordinary product availabe in a spray bottle I can use? Leather upholstery has always been synonymous with luxury. Do-it-yourselvers have two options for attacking stains on leather upholstery: using household products or a commercial cleaner formulated especially for the job. Either way, the sooner the stain is addressed, the better—the less the stain soaks in, the easier it is to remove. First you will need to do is a test. To do the test spray the cleaner, using the back edge of the cushion on the leather part. Spray a spot about the size of a quarter and wipe it with a white towel and let it dry on it’s ...(Answered by carpet guy)

Never use any petroleum based product on leather, it eats it. Just use any mild soap and water. The Magic Eraser is good too. Better yet, get a leather cleaner and conditioner...they should be two different bottles. Read the label, no petroleum based products. Use the cleaner. Rinse, dry then use the conditioner. Keep the nail polish remover or other harsh chemcials away from leather!...(Answered by fluffernut)
