The police station can give you information you just have to ask the right questions. Because of the Housing Act they are not allowed to give out certian info. Ask them to mail you a list of calls made to the area you are looking to move to. If you can get ahold of a "cool" police officer you can ask if they would move to that area, possibly they will answer that. I'm looking to purchase a house in a specific part of the neighborhood. I've walked by there several times and went to all the open houses I could find, but I didn't find anything I'm interested in. Besides constantly walking though the neighborhood looking for open houses and for sale signs, how can I find out when a new house has become available in the area without having to hire anyone? My husband and I live in New York with our 3 year old son. Living costs are expensive in NY and was considering looking for affordable homes in Maryland next Summer 2008. Trusting real estate agents are tough because they are not fully honest. By other people's experience, please let us know of any city/neighborhood in Maryland that is family friendly (schools, parks, shopping centers, best home locations near families w/ children). look to see how many houses are for sale, if its not a brand new area. If there are a lot of older houses for sale, you might ask some of them why they are selling. If the neighborhood has a higher crime rate than it used to, stay away....(Answered by Just Me)

keep on trying. some apt complexes dont even do the credit check, even though they get you to pay for it. Judst keep on trying. Maybe one of them will let you rent with a bigger deposit or something. That is what I had to do after I was turned down by 4 complexes...(Answered by KWilbanks)
