My neighbour comes into my house unwanted, what can I do?
My neighbour doesn't have a life, but doesn't seem to mind busting into mine... and specifically: into my house. I set up a couple of traps to see whether she came in and I'm pretty sure she did... keys that are placed wrong, stuff dissapearing, things that are placed in another way then how I Ieft them behind, things that are eaten or missing, etc.
I'm going to freak out... changing the locks would be an option, but is there a way to have certain PROOF that she busts into the house? I want to know WHAT she's doing, ... (Asked by inesp01) |

i live with some old ladies and i have the same problem. i just set my webcam to film 24 hours a day, like a bank security camera (to see what they were doing in my room). i caught them and satisfied my curiosity (and got the PROOf). but seriously, you can do the same and threaten them ("if you come into my house again i'm taking this to the police...") or change the locks
the last option would be the best though, less effort. but you should really make sure that she comes in.
i used my webcam and ...(Answered by Prunella Prunella) |

Can my neighbour's gutters overhang and downpipe terminate onto my driveway?
I am buying a new house in the UK. My new neighbours downpipes are terminating right at my garage door and their gutters are overhanging on my driveway. Neighbour has a detached house. Do I have the right to get it removed from/above my property? Should I ask the seller sort it out before I buy the property?
I am planning to extend my garage as well, but the neighbour's downpipe will block my extension.
Interest rates have risen 3rd time since I made an offer for this house. But because of the silly long chain, the sale couldn't be completed yet. ... (Asked by Alp) |

If you are not happy I would also ask the neighbor to remove it from your space for you may find the neighbor just may remove it when asked
I would check to see what the seller has to say and then go to the planning commission to see that they have to say....(Answered by Cherish B) |

How to complain about a neighbour's garden?
A neighbour in our street does not cut their grass, leave their kids toys all over the garden and have piles of junk at the side of their house (old wood, bread crates, old bikes, cookers, etc). They are not very approachable - and are not friendly with anyone else in the street. They are not in a council house. We are trying to sell our house and I know this is putting people off. How do I go about getting them to tidy their garden?

It does not matter whether they live in a council house or not, it is up to your local council to approach them. They can instruct them to remove the rubbish. It's not easy, been there :-(...(Answered by susie_september) |

What can I do with the neighbour from hell?
My neighbour keeps complaining about noise levels coming from our house, we live in a cul-de-sac and there is no noise from any house it was proven last year. This neighbour put us through hell and now he's doing it all over again. We are a couple with no children, we get on with all our other neighbours, we haven't done anything to him so we can't see why he's doing it. What can we do about it? He's a council tenant, but we bought our council home, if that makes a difference?

This can be handled very simply.
1. Have your neighbors write an affidavit then sign before a notary that you are not noisy. Have copies made and send the originals to your attorney. He/She should hold them for any suit you might become involved in with this troublesome neighbor.
2. Inform your neighbor that if he wishes to pursue attacking you two for noise, he needs to video tape (with audio) the offence(s) and play them back to you so you can understand what he is refering to. If in fact he is catching you making noise you didn't know about, then ...(Answered by mrscmmckim) |

What action can I take against a neighbour who has built their house in a way which does not fit in community?
My neigbour demolished the house and built a new one. My house was designed and built before this occurred. Everything was fine until the new house was built.
Now, the neighbours have replaced the wall and carport that was on their side of the fence, running the entire length of my house, with an outdoor entertaining, dining area. ie, what was originally at the back of the house, they have moved to the side of their house, along the side of my house.
What this means is, the design of my house is no longer appropriate, because it does not incorporate ... (Asked by Jon B) |

can you tell us if you're in the US or UK? I'm a city planner in the US, but I won't be able to help you with UK laws and policies.
In the U.S., there are only two sources of rules for house building.
1. Local planning agency rules for the jurisdiction in which you live. These are in the form of zoning ordinances, subdivision ordinances, etc. You can call the local planning agency and apprise them of the situation to see if there is a violation. Chances are, all the work being done would have necessitated ...(Answered by I hate friggin' crybabies) |
