Q.
Dryer motor overheating?
I have a Whirlpool LER4634JQ0 electric dryer. It runs for around 5 minutes just fine. Then it starts to sound labored for a few minutes before shutting off completely. The theremostat on the element is closed before and after. The thermostat where the air comes out is OPEN after it overheats and stops (it is closed when cool). There are no obstruction problems outside of the dryer as it stops even when the hose is removed. It appears that the exhaust air is getting too hot and causes it to stop working. The ... I'm not sure how old your dryer is, but if it is a relatively recent whirlpool, it either has the lint trap under the door or on the left side of the dryer top. The first thing to do, always, is to disconnect any electrical connection and shut off the gas, if it is a gas dryer. If the lint trap is on the bottom of the door, pull off the bottom front panel. Inside, you will see a housing surrounding the lint trap. Remove a few screws, and the housing comes off easily. Often, ...(Answered by nickdmd)

IF it runs fine..... for hours until you shut it down, then it won't start.... , its not the coil..... they usually (when they heat up) after a few minutes cut spark till they cool down a little (maybe 5 minutes or less) and they start again. was the air filter cleaned? or replaced (this should have a paper filter, don't clean it, replace it) I'd make sure (6.5? quantum?) that the carb is on good and tight, and the air filter housing is on good and tight..... try it without the gascap real quick as well.... It doesn't sound like the carb..... ...(Answered by 572ci.)

Like the other guy said, could be many, many things. My bet is if it worked good before and this year it started this and you have never had it serviced, then the condenser coil (outside unit) is dirty. Turn the unit off and shut the power off. the condenser (out side part) is most likely dirty. You can clean it if you are handy. You have to take the top off (power all off) and spray the coil out with a garden hose pushing out all of the years of grass and dirt out (inside to outside). don't get any ...(Answered by jinmajay)

My lawnmower just overheated (I think), what should I do?
I was mowing for the first time this spring and when I was almost done it shot out a giant plume of white smoke and died. Its a cheap 3 yr old mower. I changed the oil before hand, the air filter looks pretty clean. Should I have done something else to bring it out of winter? I think it overheated probably since I was on a steep hill and the grass was pretty high. Help? ... (Asked by thisdogischinese)

If its a four stroke engine and it blew a cloud of white smoke it sounds like the engine is in trouble. The crankcase oil got into the combustion camber. This could be a hole in the piston or the piston rings have gone. Try and turn the engine by hand. If it will not turn after it has cooled off then the engine is seized. If it will turn, then take out the spark plug. Examine it for oil. It should be dry. Hold you finger over the spark plug hole and turn the engine by hand. You should ...(Answered by frozen)
