how do those steam clean carpet cleaners help when they use water, which goes to the carpet padding?

First of all, "steam cleaners" do not use steam, they use hot water! The idea of "steam cleaning" is to use very hot water to melt the greasy or waxy filth in your carpet so that it can be sucked up. It does work, by the way, if done properly. The typical cleaner liquid is a disinfectant and anti-microbial anti-bacteria sterilizer. You are correct, the typical problem in some climates is that not all of the water will be sucked up and will not evaporate, leaving a damp or even wet carpet. i'm in michigan, but i'll give you the lowdown here...it's gone up considerably in the last year across the country. $4-6.50 per yard depending on the density/moisture barrier/thickness of the pad. it's gone up because it is made of foam cuttings for furniture/automobile seats-it isn't like anyone just MAKES foam bits for carpet pad. anyway, china has started using the padding to fill mattresses and it has been in demand in the U.K., where traditionally they have used fiber pad for flooring. hense, there is less to go around...supply and demand baby!...(Answered by kalamazooqueen)

It would definetly muffle the sound more than it is currently. There is also a sound-proofing material available. It looks like square ceiling tiles, and they can be applied to a wall, and painted. good luck...(Answered by stretch)

How do I keep my sectional couch from sliding apart?

Can 3/4 inch styrofoam be used for pool pad instead of sand?
Would like to know if I can use 4x8 sheets of styrofoam 3/4 inch for padding under my pool. The setup guild says it's ok. I would like to know someone who has done this before. No matter where you bought it, take it back. You should be able to wash it without getting clumps. Take it back even if you don't have the original sales tag....(Answered by roseheart101)

I think you worded your question wrong! Padding is never sold with adhesive on it...however and can buy a carpet tape with adhesive on both sides which stops any movement of rugs or carpet. This can be bought at building supply stores and even wal*mart carries it....(Answered by shortcake)

just had to do this not long ago myself. had to help a friend get glued down carpet off a concrete floor. it came up very easily since it had been flooded and had been waterlogged for about 3 days. it was 3 weeks after the flood when we torn it out, and it all came up very easliy. so i would soak it in water for about 3 to 4 days and let it dry out after that. to help dry it out open the windows and place fans in the room . but other than that good luck ...(Answered by don g)

how much bigger is a full/double mattress than a twin mattress?
i want to get a new bed frame, the one i have in mind is a double...but i have a twin sized mattress, and buying a new mattress is a fortune... so i was thinking if a double isnt that much bigger, i would just find a way to put storage or padding in the open space. helpp? ...
