A.
The stag beetle is Britain's largest insect and one of the most well-known of all the beetles. The male is easily recognised because of his mouthparts which have evolved into enormous jaws, resembling the antlers on a stag's head. Despite their fearsome appearance, these antlers are useless for biting, and are used to fight other males. It is the smaller female we need to be wary of - her tiny antlers may look less threatening but they can inflict a sharp nip!...(Answered by Joy L)

How do you pinch an avocado plant when it grows?
Like do I pinch the stem also or just the two leaves on top? How often should I prune them? Are they better off natural or should I pinch them to look like a fat bush? =] also, do i pinch off the stem or just the leaves? ... (Asked by Michelle)

A.
If you pinch off the top two leaves it will make the plant branch off in two different directions. If you pinch (prune) off the top four leaves, the same thing will happen. You can pinch/prune it as often as you like. It is up to you. It is up to you if you want it to look like a fat bush, too. That is one nice thing about having plants like this. You get to decide. If you try it one way and don't like it, start over and do it the other way. Either way you will still have ...(Answered by Belize Missionary)

Lesson 1: Don't spray into the wind. I did that once and it sprayed all over me instead of the person attacking me. Mine comes in a leather holder attached to my key ring. I practice unsnapping the case and turning the nozzel with my thumb as I am lifting it up to spray. My nozzel stays in a turned and locked position, so you have to lift up as you turn it or it won't spray. Since mine is on the key ring, I take it out and keep it in my hand ...(Answered by eskie lover)

Q.
Does anyone have wild animals visiting their house? I have 3 grey squirrels who pinch the birds' peanuts.?
In the back garden we get grey squirrels who swing upside down on the washing-line and feed out of the peanuts that are hanging in a wire cage for the birds. As it goes dark our hedgehogs come out and they head straight for the nuts that have fallen on the ground and also eat up all the cat-food that I put out (NON-FISHY!) I also have moles on the front lawn! But the less said about them, the better! Hi Val G, Glad you enjoyed writing about the animals! For the last couple of years we've had pheasants visiting and one Mother brought all her ... (Asked by vincent a)

Ahh that's nice - and a nice post... I see badgers and fox's mainly - and i haven't got a garden - the badgers pick up peanuts under my window - and i sometimes leave food out for the fox's. I live in a small town and at the bottom of the road there's a park and it leads to a river where there's a lot of trees - so a lot of wildlife come up to where i live looking for food. I also feed the birds - so many different kinds - i buy a bag of ...(Answered by *Tinkly* *Tallulah* *Bell*)

The sucker leaves are the ones with smooth edges. They're called "sucker" leaves because they suck some of the energy from the plant that would otherwise go into growing the tomato itself. They're not going to produce blooms or do much of anything else....(Answered by Claude)

Buy energy saving light bulbs - they are really cheap now. Yes, they are a bit dimmer than regular bulbs but they last miles longer. Got a garden or balcony? Buy a few flower pots and grow your own veg. Small initial outlaw will give you a Summer and Autumn of say, herbs, lettuce, tomatoes and potatoes. Groceries. Only buy what you need when you need it. Also, at the end of the day most supermarkets reduce their soon-to-be out of date stock. Buy it cheaply and freeze it. Check for a cheaper provider for your phone and internet. ...(Answered by Amazingwoo)
