If you pinch off the top two leaves it will make the plant branch off in two different directions. If you pinch (prune) off the top four leaves, the same thing will happen.
You can pinch/prune it as often as you like. It is up to you. It is up to you if you want it to look like a fat bush, too.

Buy energy saving light bulbs - they are really cheap now. Yes, they are a bit dimmer than regular bulbs but they last miles longer.
Got a garden or balcony? Buy a few flower pots and grow your own veg. Small initial outlaw will give you a Summer and Autumn of say, herbs, lettuce, tomatoes and potatoes.
Groceries. Only buy what you need when you need it. Also, at the end of the day most supermarkets reduce their soon-to-be out of date stock. Buy it cheaply and freeze it.
