Sure pluck away, if they are yellow it usually means too much water, brown is to little water or nutrients, get a good plant food and check the soil for mold, it may be killing your plant....(Answered by Chuck P)

How can I stop mushrooms from growing in my plants?
I have many plants growing in containers on my porch. Lately, dozens of yellow mushrooms have started appearing. I pluck them out, but it's useless, as dozens more appear. What can I do to get rid of the mushrooms, without endangering my vegetables and flowers? I would prefer for any method to be organic. ... (Asked by Cara D)

A.
The mushrooms are absolutely not hurting your plants. In fact, the mycelia they're arising from is breaking down the organic matter in the soil, making nutrients more accessible to your plants. In a few days the mushrooms will stop coming. Many kinds of soil fungi actually make partnerships with plants and help them grow better - none of the bad-plant-attacking-fungi make mushrooms. Anything commercially available to stop fungi is not recommended for vegetable-growing....(Answered by pam2who)

Because you haven't supplied a photo from which to make a positive ID, about the best I can do is have you go to this site 1. ** and check off any of the characteristic of your fungus with their appropriate match. The engine will then return several fungi that it has narrowed your search down to. Btw, the more details you provide, the shorter the return list you'll have to choose from. Or....you can send me a picture if you can get it. As for pulling out your plants out for fear of contamination or disease, that is really not ...(Answered by Mycos)

Q.
does anyone know if you are supposed to pluck the bottom stems off of tomato plants?
... (Asked by baby)
View Entire Question | Report Abuse | Similar Questions | See it in Y!
A.
The reason they pluck the stems off the bottom of the tomato plant is because the nutrients will go to the top of the plant were the vegetable will grow. If you have too many long stems sticking out of the tomato plant it becomes leggy and a lot of water is wasted on stems that produce nothing. You can also pluck quit a few stems off the plant and plant the long part of the stem plus the root in the ground. It will look like you are laying down the plant. Leave about 5 or 6 inches out ...(Answered by nhalleycat)

I am 65, and have grown cucumbers all my life. I have never had to remove a single cucumber to get better or larger cukes. If anything, once they start setting on you have a hard time keeping them picked while they are still small enough to eat. Leave them alone, they will do just fine. Make sure they have enough water, they may droop a little in the heat, but will come out of it with a bit of watering. Cucumbers do not require a lot of attention. They may over grow the ...(Answered by dawnskye59014)

contrary to the first answer, i know that dried lavendar can keep it's scent for ages and ages. it is only when it is fresh (not dried) that that air scent lasts such a short time. a couple of years ago, i made sachets out of dried lavendar i took from my garden. to this day, when i crush the little cloth sachet in my hand, a very strong and clear scent of the lavendar inside is emitted. without any friction, it will last a super short time. if used as a sachet or if it is rubbed in any ...(Answered by that's the truth)
