Q.
Is there a poison that will kill rats and mice but won't harm my cats?
I have a rodent problem and would like to do something about it. Unfortunately I have 2 cats and i worry that a regular poison will hurt them if they eat a poisoned mouse. Is there some type of poison that will kill the rats, but not hurt my cats? ... (Asked by T_C)

A.
No. But if you have a rodent problem, why not go to the source instead of just poisoning them? They must be getting in someplace. Check your foundation. Or better yet, have a professional critter service check your foundation. The best cure is prevention. For those still lingering within, find yourself those jaw traps that snap and kill them cleanly, as opposed to a regular mouse trap, which many easily can avoid or get out of. Good luck and YUCK!! Would hate to be you!! PS - Shouldn't those lazy cats be CATCHING the mice??...(Answered by elle55407)

Q.
Is it possible for you to have poison Ivy in your garden/backyard?
Earlier today while my cousins were playing in the backyard where the garden was around, I saw a bunch of 3 leafed plants. I thought it couldn't have been what I thought it is but I checked just in case. I have a book about plants in my bookshelf so I took it out and then looked up Poison Ivy. It said that poison ivy does have 3 leaves. And it had a picture of it and it looks exactly like the one plant in my garden that I think its posion ivy. So, my question is: Is it possible ... Q.
How can i improve my soil after tree poison has been used?
My father "thinks" he used tree poison to remove some trees. He also said he might have used something to get rid of white ants. We've noticed that the plants around the areas where the trees used to be either die, or struggle when their root system gets established. Getting it tested would cost too much for what it's worth, so we're unsure how to go about fixing the problem. i'm more concerned about improving the quality of my soil rather than growing veggies - what should i do? Also, it's been suggested we bring in some more soil and grow ... (Asked by I_like_peas)

Q.
Which poison to use on different types of ants?
The type of ants making my life miserable right now aren't interested at all with sugar, or water. They go after meat type foods and greasy things. Right now, I'm watching them gang-tackle a tiny piece of a corn chip. At least I know what to use for bait now. I want to make sure to get the correct ingredients when I go to the store in a few minutes. The other day, I got a lot of reccomendations for boric acid to mix up an effective poison for them to take back to the nest. Is this ... (Asked by westcoastnobodies)

A.
There are two general types of ants. (This is very basic for the thousands of species of ants.) There are sugar based ants that like sweet baits and then there are protein based ants that like protein baits. If the ants went after the corn chips, I would guess that it likes protein based foods. I would recommend finding a product called Maxforce Fine Granular Ant Bait. You can find it at most do-it-yourself pest control companies or on-line. Follow the instructions, more is not better with this. Good luck!...(Answered by katslookup<owned by UGLY dog!)

Q.
How do i kill poison ivy plants?
How do i kill poison ivy plants without using round up? Because it is so toxic? We live on 40acres of woods. MY brother has poison ivy and sumac, and it was a real wake up call for us to be more cautious. Does anyone know how to kill poison ivy and/or sumac and oak plants without using something as toxic as Round up? That would be great! Thank you! ... (Asked by Joyce M)

A.
Actually RoundUp is not a dangerous product. Any that is not absorbed by the leaves starts to biodegrades as soon as it is sprayed. We have used it in concentrated form for poison ivy with great success. Otherwise the only really effective way is to remove it by digging up the roots. This is not a fun job. Go ahead and use the RoundUp, it is really safe. I know there are those who rant against any chemical but we have used RoundUp for over 12 years and the plant, animal, bird and insect population on our property is more ...(Answered by oil field trash)

Getting rid of cricket without poison?
Okay, this isn't the most important question in the world but it's sure driving me crazy. I have a cricket with a very loud chirp behind my refrigerator. Every time I get near he (or she) quiets up and if I pull the refrigerator out from the wall the cricket is nowhere to be found. I don't want to use bug spray or poison around the refrigerator but I don't know how to get rid of the thing. I tried sprinkling red pepper behind the refrigerator because I'd heard once that it keeps ants away. ... (Asked by Anword)

Go to a L&G Center and get a small container of diatomaceous earth. It's the microscopic silicon skeletons of certain plankton in the ocean. Puff some of it behind the fridge and it will kill it. Then next time its time to clean the floor you can clean it up. It's a 100% natural product with no poison....(Answered by college kid)
