Based on 150 square feet, at a thickness of 4 inches you would need approx 2 cubic yards of concrete. The price of concrete varies by region but in my area, Wisconsin, the price is about $75.00 per yard. Now they do charge more for small loads. I would guess that if you have someone do this for you, it would cost about $500.00. Just a guess. It isn't that hard to do yourself. You can rent a small mixer with concrete in it....(Answered by joatmon585)

A.
Monolithic- being all in one. Monolithic usually is referred to when there are different portions of an area to be poured and the contractor (person performing the work) chooses to pour them simultaneously. For example- when you have a foundation with a pier on top of that foundation. One choice is pouring them monolithically or pouring the foundation & pier together. There would also be the option or second choice to pour the foundation first, then pour the piers after the foundation is complete. Both are feasible options- the choice would depend on time, materials, and experience of the ...(Answered by sangiusepe)

Basement: would you use standard poured concrete or the new Lite-form construction?
We live where the soil retains a lot of moisture and where frost tends to get in the basement walls, which can both lead to mold growth on the basement walls. A.
Well I asked my husband who owns his own construction company and this is what he told me about liteform. Its Energy Efficant, Reduces Heating/Cooling costs by about 20%,Fire Resistant,Plans require little modifications. We live in ND now where sadly we get tons of snow lots of frost and moisture out the butt when the snow melts. He did say that sometimes it does cause mold and mildew to grow{rarely}. Said he'd do it for a client if they wanted it but wouldnt do it in his own home and thinks it would work best in places that dont have much ...(Answered by texas_angel_wattitude)

you can do anything you like but this is crazy.the wood Willl rot in time and your floor wil sag, was this the builders idea ,then change the builder for someone with brains. either get a floor sander ,sand the wood and re varnish it. or cover it with vinyl(This is the most practical and can look really classy . or rip it out and pour concrete . to lay a thin layer of concrete ,in time you will end up with a cracked floor. why don't you fiber glass it ,that's also crazy but still better than your idea. in Africa they got beautifully floors with varnished ...(Answered by byderule)

12" deep is rather extreme, I think Id go with between 4 and 6 inches. Don't make the patio perfectly level you'll want 2 or 3 inches of "fall" in the patio, making sure that the fall in the patio will help drain water away from your house. Make sure that you have a good base for your patio, pour over solid ground so it wont sink or settle. 15x15 is pretty big, to have a good broom finish on it will be a challenge if you dont have a float or concrete broom with a long ...(Answered by the_super_grover)

For sure, no problem. Try to use a hammer drill. Ask around to your friends if you don't own one or rent one from the local Home Depot for a few bucks an hour. The hammer drill makes the job an absolute breeze and the concrete drill bits last longer (more holes) without getting dull on the head. I suggest using Tapcons as your method to affix whatever to the wall to hold your shelves (brackets or a wood rail or...?) You can get phillips heads and use a drill with a phillips bit on it or you can get hex ...(Answered by 6kidsANDalwaysFIXINGsomething)
