Door lock that opens by a time mechanism?
I have a small office with a metal door that opens from the street to the inside waiting area. I often get to the office in the morning at the time of the appointment but the client might come early. Can I install a door lock that will unlock at a given preset timer ather than by just a key?

Here's what I've come up with.
There is a latch mechanism that mounts in the door jamb that is electrically operated. You've probably seen them, where someone pushes a button to unlock a door remotely. If you had that set up with the button outside the door, and the electric current was supplied through a timer. You would set the timer to supply power only when you wanted to allow access. Your client could then come to the door, press the button, and the door would unlock. You could additionally add a key operated switch outside, which ...(Answered by charley128) |

Wait a minute...I can't believe some of these answers, First of all you should not reduce the speed of the blower, In A/C mode you want to move as much air as possible over the coil to absorb as much heat as you can, reducing the speed too much may cause the coil to freeze. And lets say reducing the speed from 1150rpm to 950rpm is not going to reduce your electricity to a point you will notice a savings, plus at that point the A/c will have to run a longer cycle to cool to the ...(Answered by T squared) |

my furnace pilot light couldn't stay on?
my furnace pilot light couldn't stay on. After I light it, it is ok. Then it is off again after the room temperature reaches preset temperature and I have re-light it. Is it because the thermocouple is bad or is it too dirty at the pilot light??

Does your gas company provide service, if you are not experienced a gas appliance is not the job you should tackle, expecially when you can't be sure of the problem. If the thermocouple is bad, it shouldn't light. Could be the regulator, or just a draft, and if the flue is blocked, it could be dangerous. Do you have a Detector? A service fee is a small price to pay for peace of mind....(Answered by champ2785) |

central heating advice for my partner please?
Hiya,
Over the last couple of weeks the water out of the taps has become very hot
(scalding).
The boiler is on on a maintenace contract with british gas. They have come
out and looked and said there is nothing that can be done. "The temperature
is dictated by the amount of gas pressure which is preset in the factory."
The temperature gauge on the front is only for central heating apparently.
Is this correct? What could have caused it to suddenly start happening?
Any advice appreciated

It doesn't have a thermostat to alter the water temperature? I think the engineer is right, the gauge on my boiler is for the central heating. Try looking on the boiler makers website for advice....(Answered by Gavin T) |
