A.
I have a 50 gallon rain barrel that came with a hose attachment. The barrel will fill up in no time during a good rain. I have found that when you don't need it, it is full and when you do need it, you use up the water really quickly. This spring we have had a lot of rain so I haven't needed the rain water from the barrel. If it sits there too long it starts to smell bad so you have to add a little bleach. Also, I add some mosquito dunks just in ...(Answered by B Anne)

What can I do to recycle my roof rainwater?
... (Asked by Wyevale Garden Centres)

A.
If you are asking this question on behalf of Wyvale Garden centre then I think you could make the rainwater from your roofs help out with water saving. I read somewhere that Volkswagen in Germany build their roofs so that they collect rainwater and reuse it. The biggest problem is storage. It would be better if the rainwater was stored at a high level so that a pump isn't required, and with a large building such as Wyvale this could be possible. It might be possible to fix the tank to the gable end of the ...(Answered by woodchippy)

What's the name of those buried Japanese rainwater garden chimes?
In Japan, there are chimes in some gardens that sound when raindrops fall on them. These chimes are buried in the soil so they can't be seen. Does anyone know what these are called? They're not the Kusari-doi Rainchains. Again, please keep in mind, the ones I'm looking for are buried in the soil and are invisible. P.S.: If you don't know the answer, don't respond just so you can raise your score. If you're not giving a serious, helpful answer, go pester someone else. ... (Asked by J.J. Bustamante)

Q.
Is it OK to dispose of my oil down the rainwater drain?
I've got about 5 litres of waste car oil to dump and I imagine the easiest method is to tip it down the drain and allow it to break down naturally. I was thinking of tipping some sand down afterwards to aid with 'soaking it up'. Failing that I would have to dispose of it on the edge of the local playing fields as there is a secluded area which it wouldn't pose a hazard. ... (Asked by Shiv)

A.
Yep, it's pretty straightforward. The easiest if you have enough land is to hire a bulldozer to dig a stock tank and let the rainwater keep in full (hint: if you have very porous soil you might have to line it with either a tank liner or fine drilling mud to seal it). If you don't have the area, simply guttering the barn and/or house and letting the water collect in a cistern works just fine as well....(Answered by PraiseBob)
