reddish in My Home& Garden

i have small reddish brown bugs that fly then crawl i only have them in living room? cleaned whole living room down but they keep appearing they look like small beatles but they r the size of a gnat please help me,can i get anything that gets rid of them i also have wooden floors i see them on everything mainly floors-walls and tv also have old fishtank that has leaked ? ... have you seen this it has a reddish purple stripe? I think it is some sort of? beetle.. The reddish purple stripe goes down its back! Does anyone know what type of bug it is? We need more information. At the very least, tell us how many legs it has. If it has 8, it will be a spider or a tick. If it has 6 legs, it will be an insect. Was it like a beetle? You can see pics of various beetles on wikipedia. Take a look and this might help you begin to be able to identify the bug you saw....(Answered by momtothenth)

Does anyone know what these small, reddish-brown, ant-like bugs are? I have these small bugs that look like miniature ants, they're at least 1/4 the size (maybe smaller) of a regular black ant and kind of reddish-brown in color. I had them in the bathroom first and now they're moving to the rest of the house. They seem to burrow behind things like the molding trim, where the seal has come loose and they are all around the sink and toilet. Sounds like Pharaoh ants. Do not expose these ants to any pesticide as they will immediately split into different colonies. The only thing that works are baits. You are seeing them around the bathroom because they are seeking water. This would be a good place to put bait stations. It will take time. Avoid moving the bait once its in place. Give it time. Pharaoh ants usually live behind the walls and come out to get food.They do not bite , but are a nuisance. Good Luck!...(Answered by monte54que)

My tub was turning red and I tried CLR, and every other expensive rust/calcium/lime cleaner out there. I finally grabbed a $1bottle of "The Works".Toilet bowl cleaner It is at Wal-Mart and every dollar store. it is soooo cheap and is the ONLY thing that works. Beware-it takes your breath away, so open a window and run!! you don't need to scrub-just pour it on and it sizzles and turns the tub white-SERIOUSLY-IT IS AMAZING!!!...(Answered by shellshell)

The best remedy is to use the chalk available that kill ants and insects , drag a line where ants are there in 15-20 mins all the ants will dies out sweep it aways and mop the place to clean traces of the chalk as well . This would avoid the kids in getting contact with the chalk powder :-)...(Answered by Kaapikad)

You didn't say where you are living and that does make a difference. In drier parts of the country, it isn't food per se, but they go looking for water. Besides keeping your kitchen tidy, I recommend that you plant mint at the entrance area; they don't like it and that should help dissuade them. Borax and baking soda are also good deterrents; sprinkle a line along their trail. Finally, if that doesn't work, clean the kitchen and buy some organic bug spray and keep going at them!
