ridge in My Home& Garden

Are Rafters pulling away from ridge in attic a problem? I had an home inspection doen and a rafter is not touching the ridge, with a quarter inch gap. I don't think it pulled away. I would make a bet in this (Pulte build) subdivision of 3000 Sqft houses, that I can find that in any attic. Is the home inspector a bit zelaous? ... (Asked by bonsai)

It may have been built this way since day one. That why it's called rough-in framing. Or it may result from wood shrinkage. Either way it's no big deal. If it really bothers you, install a steel connector plate....(Answered by morris)

Are you talking about wild mushrooms?If so, I am from Massachusetts and am a member of a mushroom club.We hunt wild mushrooms,identify them,discuss them,and have loads of fun doing it.My advice is to go to your local bookstore and get a book put out by the Audobaun Society called Mushrooms of North America.It's a pocket sized book with over 700 different varities of mushrooms.Also check for any mushroom clubs in your area.There is ususlly one in evey state.It's a very interesting hobby.Good Luck.You may contact me for further info....(Answered by birdlover)

Does anyone notice a center ridge in their king size bed when there are side by side box springs underneath? We are on our fourth mattress with this pair of box springs. We went from pillow top to comfort top. The manufacturer says the box springs are in specs. The latest mattress is a firm Sealy. Could the problem still be with the box springs? There are Verlo mattresses out there that are reversable, would that be the answer? We need opinions of users, not sales people or service techs. Still looking for good answers ... (Asked by map)

we had a high end pillow top mattress we bought from sears, had it replaced once after about a year because of the ridge in the middle, it also had the dual twin box spring setup, finally after about 7 yrs. we got rid of it and purchased a tempurpedic, wish we'd had one about 20 yrs. ago...great mattress, we got a king, pricey, but worth it... Oh, and might add that we rotated the pillow top about every 3 months...if it had been perfectly square i would have turned it 90 ...(Answered by michal d)

Are the costs of installing water, electric, septic exorbitant (understanding that being on the pinnacle of a mountain isn't cheap)?
