I have one pound of sirloin tip roast sitting in my freezer. How would I roast such a small amount? Any tips?
I know that I could use one pound of sirloin tip roast in a stew or something, but I would like to roast it. Given that one pound is a much smaller amount than a typical roast (usually 3 to 5 lbs), how should I prepare it. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am a former chef and agree with both of the first 2 respondants, like the second fellow said, what you have is a large steak, and the sealing in and browning will help trap the juices in the meat, the heat temp he gave is a good idea, but this does depend on the doness you like if your going for medium rare to medium, it is fine any thing more and you might bump it up to 325 d F for 25-30 minutes, make sure the oven is on before, a cold oven will take longer and you ...(Answered by David H) |

How do I roast a lamb leg in an electric oven?
I have a 1.75-pound (0.800-kg) boneless lamb leg portion that I want to roast in my electric oven. At which temperature and for how long should I roast it? Should the roast be covered or uncovered once in the oven?
Thanks for any and all suggestions.
Signed,
The Useless Chef.

lamb joints are cooked the same;
Remove all the wrappings and dry off the surface moisture from the meat with a clean cloth or kitchen towel.
To enhance the flavour, season with rosemary or garlic slivers inserted into the skin.
Cooking Times:
Raw to Medium: 25 mins per lb plus 25 mins over
Well Done: 30-35mins per lb plus 30 mins over
To Roast. Uncovered.
Calculate the cooking time.
Pre-heat the oven to 375F/190C/Gas 5.
Roast the meat with a little dripping or lard in the centre of the oven. Baste at intervals during cooking.
It is recommended not to hot roast leg joints ...(Answered by janet381951) |

Can you substitute a brisket for a chuck roast when making pot roast in a slow cooker?
I am making a pot roast recipe that calls for pot roast (aka chuck roast) but I have a beef brisket on hand already. Is it okay to spice up a brisket and use it in place of a roast? Will it get as tender as a roast after cooking it for 8-9 hours?

Not likely that they will turn out in the Micro. Popcorn is dried, while chick peas are not. Add to that the micro popcorn is packaged in a special bag with a heater in the bottom.
Besides you are not trying to roast popcorn.
I would put the chick peas on a baking sheet, drizzle olive oil over them to coat, and roast them in an oven at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes - or until they look golden brown. The oven will drive off the water in the peas, resulting in a roast.

Something I learned from my mom...... put almost enough water to cover the meat, sprinkle about a teaspoon of onion salt over it, and add about 1/2 teaspoon pickling spice to the water. Cook all day, and it's the best tasting meat you ever had, and smells great while cooking. At first, using pickling spice sounds weird, but until you try it you haven't had the best! The meat is so tender it literally falls apart, you don't need a knife, and the spices make it taste way better than 'plain' meat....(Answered by Ann N. Cephalic) |
