Recommend a unique salad (any kind) to take to a Labor Day picnic ?
My family is sick of eating the same old stuff. I'm sick of MAKING & rotating the same 3 boring salads I take to every single function.
I want a salad that is relatively easy to make (not too time consuming) & wonderful. I wanna "WOW" my relatives this holiday! Have a peaceful one.......

I love spinach based salads. I put candied walnuts or pecans in mine with crumbled blue cheese, chopped pear and home-made honey mustard dressing. (equal parts honey and wholegrain mustard with water to thin it down).
German potato salad - quarter & boil potatoes and toss with red wine vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, chopped chives.
3 bean salad - pinto, kidney and black beans tossed with corn, chopped red and green peppers, cilantro, chives, red chillies, olive oil and salt and pepper
Enjoy!...(Answered by Rebecca) |

Is there a name for that rotating wheel used to hold order slips in restaurants?
Weird question, I know. I can't figure it out for the life of me. I'm having a Japanese-themed grad party on Friday and wanted to have something like that rotating wheel (I'm recreating a sushi-go-round, where you match sushi pictures to their names). Does anybody know the name of that wheel, and possibly where I could find (or make) something similar, in stand-up form?

They're called order wheels or ticket wheels:

I've only seen them in restaurant supply stores. But for what you're doing, a lazy susan or roating cake stand might work. The cake stand might be a little taller, so you hang your pictures from the edge of the plate and place the sushi below.
Hope this helps!...(Answered by peanutflutter) |
