Here are several methods you can try. Whatever you do, DO NOT use bleach, as it will pit the stainless steel! Put baking soda over bottom of the pot and add white vinegar, about 1/2 cup, and let it sit for a few hours. The vinegar and soda will bubble and then help scrub off the burn. Use a pot scrubber after a few hours and it should come clean. You can also try dry dishwasher soap, and a little water. Make a paste and rub it on the burn. Allow it to set for about an hour, and then clean with ...(Answered by GracieM)

OK this is coming from a person who sells it. Depends on how much it is burnt. 1) take the pan put 2-3 inch's of water in it and a tablespoon of dish soap and place on the stove with low heat. Do not let it boil over. Watch it and after 30 min pour out the contents and try with a wooden spoon to remove the stuff. Repeat 2 times then #2 2) dry the area with the burned stuff and take baking soda and very little water and make a slurry mix, with a wash cloth take this slightly abrasive ...(Answered by Rosa)

How do i get burnt-on rice off a saucepan without scratching it?
My flatmate said she'd buy me a new pan if we can't get it clean, but i like this pan... :( "Without scratching it" applies to the pan... not the rice! *GRR* the rice is all off, but there are rice-shaped black burn marks on the pan. How do I clean burnt oil from a saucepan?
I have a set of chrome saucepans and recently scorched the oil in the bottom of one of them? It has resulted in a residue on the bottom of the saucepan that will not come of after soaking or normal scrubbing. I do not want to use steel wool on it because if may scratch the chrome finish of my saucepan. Scrubbing hard at it is not an option because of arthritis. Any suggestions of the best/ easiest way of getting this pan cleaned? Many thanks! ... (Asked by Jara)

I've had pretty good luck with boiling the pan/pot with vinegar, or a vinegar-water mix. The burnt on stuff then comes off fairly easily. Burnt on oil is a toughie. Have you tried the spray on Dawn Power Dissolver? Spray it on, let it sit a while, then clean. Personally, I think the smell is too strong, but it works pretty well. Not sure about the scortched oil, though. Good luck!...(Answered by leeceegee)

Q.
Is it safe to put a stainless steel saucepan in the dishwasher.?
I have a large stainless steel saucepan with a glass lid that I only use occasionally when lots of people come for dinner and I usually wash it by hand but I was wondering if it is ok to wash it in the dishwasher. I am a bit wary to try this as I dont want to spoil it (and because my partner bought this). I would be grateful for any advice. ... (Asked by curlygirl)

Stainless steel is fine in a dishwasher, and the glass lid. It is the handles that sometimes make them unsuitable for a dishwasher. If yours has a metal handle or the saucepan actually says somewhere on it 'dishwasher safe' then it will be OK. Have always washed my saucepans in the dishwasher and some of them are 30 years old....(Answered by Boggy)

First rinse the pan out with cold water before you use it. Second, immediately after you've finished with the pan place it upside down on a flat surface so the rim is flat down, you might have to have the pan handle sticking out over the side. After about half an hour its own steam should loosen everything and it will rinse off easily. Same with milk pans....(Answered by proud walker)
