The Laminates are made of MDF. Medium density fiberboard This is a health hazzard for your lungs when you cut it with a power saw. Drawbacks of MDF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medium-density_fibreboard Heavier (the resins are heavy) Contains urea-formaldehyde which may cause eye and lung irritation when cutting and sanding The glue that binds the laminations is made with formaldehyde. This is a toxic chemicle when burned and inhaled Finally, any plastic layers (maybe the top surface) when burned, will produce cyanide gas. You just need to take the time to sit down and go through these things. Make a pile of what is trash, a pile of keepsakes(which you can put in a scrap book). A pile of important documents, a pile of bills etc. maybe get a file cabinet with labeled folders to help you get better organized. There are just somethings that you can't throw away, I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Hope this helps....(Answered by REALISTIC)
