Q.
How to shake the dust of carpets without being covered in it.?
How to shake the dust of carpets without being covered in it? I often have to get rid of the dust on a small carpet (about the size of two or three car carpets, used for shoe covering) Anyways it really annoys me when the dust goes all over my face. Any personal suggestions or experiences with fixing this? Thanks ... (Asked by MyRedIsBlue)

Drape it over a post or a fence, then whack it with a carpet beater (old tennis racket or baseball bat would work, too). With my smaller carpets, I often beat it against a stone pillar outside my house, and I guess the prevailing winds are right, because it rarely comes back to me. That size is small enough, you could wash it in the washing machine. I don't understand the reference to shoe covering? Couldn't you use towels or some sort of cloth to cover the shoes instead of a carpet? That's even more washable....(Answered by Madame M)

Q.
is this normal? my new Frigidaire stackable front-loading washer/dryer is shaking violently and moving! help!?
i just moved in to my house, there is a brand new frigidaire stackable front-loading washer/dryer (gallery series) in a closet in the bathroom. (the model # is GLEH1642DS1) I went to use it for the first time and it went fine--until the final spin cycle. The machine started shaking so violently and literally moved three feet and was grinding into the wall of the closet with such force. My whole bathroom was shaking. I was scared. I watched the caulking break off of one of the tiles on the bathroom floor (mind you the bathroom ... (Asked by Gem)

It's not properly balanced. You have to call someone to fix it. Until then., be careful to place laundry into it evenly. Make sure there isn't a side that has all of the clothes on it. Carefully put the clothes in to make every part of the washer has some clothing... you at least start it out balanced and you will have less chance for this to happen. Usually this problem happens with old products, not new ones, so get someone to check it now you may have a defective unit. Good luck!...(Answered by skipdip)

mine does that, it means that the clothes inside the washer are out of balance. if i stop the washer and move the clothes around so they're a little more even, then start the washer again it sometimes fixes it. is your washer making a loud banging noise too? my washer does that from time to time and i was told there's a part inside the washer that needs to be fixed. i'd rather ignore the noise than pay money to get rid of it. if it just shakes, fix the clothes and make them ...(Answered by jess l)

When tranferring clothes from the washer to the dryer do YOU shake out every little piece or do you just grab?
the clothes and stick them in the dryer? One of my elderly clients says I have to SHAKE them all out individually or they won't dry straight. Is that true? I just shove them in. ... (Asked by Dellajoy)

I have never ever heard of shaking the clothing out first. I have always just grabbed them from the washer and threw them in the dryer. They dry just fine for me. Except the random half dry towels once in a while. (usually in a bigger load) I used to take out all my t-shirts and hang them to dry, because they're all cheap and shrink...But I gave up on that and they're fine. As for your cliant... You just have to do what they want. That's what you get payed for!...(Answered by Becky)

I recently purchased front load machines and had the same issue. Leveling the machine helped but they still move around when they are in the spin cycle. Here's what I ended up doing. I took two peices of 3/4" plywood and screwed them together and installed them under the machines. Before I set the machines on them you must level & screw the plywood to the floor. The key was to add a peice of 1x2x3/4 oak to the edge of the 2 peices of plywood. raise it up 1/4" so the machines can't wiggle off. After the machines are installed on top ...(Answered by kschroe21156)

Sounds like the water supply pipe. Try opening up the valve a bit more (the little faucet handle, normally under the tank on the right side.) If that doesn't do it, you probably have a loose pipe in the wall. Other than the noise, there's really no problem....(Answered by SA Writer)

Q.
I have to sit on my washing machine...?
My washing machine has starting shaking every time it hits the spin cycle. It was on a piece of plywood when we bought the house, but we pulled the wood out because it looked like butt, but now our washing machine shakes so bad. It is tilted back at about a 5 or 10 degree angle because of the angle of the floor (it's in a closed in porch) Does that have something to do with it? It was fine before we moved it, but now I have to literally hold it down when it hits that ... (Asked by Brian I)

The washer must sit flat and not be able to rock from corner to corner. It is best to start with the leveling legs turned up as far as possible into the machine and then adjusted out for the machine to sit flat and not rock from corner to corner. The one mistake that most people make is in stopping the rocking they keep turning the wrong leg farther out of the machine instead of turning the other leg into the machine. They keep turning them farther and farther out until the machine becomes top heavy and then no matter how ...(Answered by ApplianceGuy)
