A duvet is a cover that fits over a comforter(usually a down one)to protect it from getting soiled. It's easier to wash a duvet (in the machine) than a down quilt. A coverlet is a lightweight bedspread substitute or blanket - something pretty enough to be used on the top of the sheets without an additional covering. Good question, the only way I know to answer this is only be experience. I have always bought a pillow sham for my bed pillows. They are the decorative type pillow covers for bed pillows and usually match the comforter. Pillow covers are just that. Pillows on the couch can have a cover over them, so you can wash them, and so can pillow cases. Also called covers. I am in the very process of making pillow covers for some old pillows for a couch for my daughters apartment. So, there ya have it, I think. lol...(Answered by chinarain53)

A sham is a decorative cover for a pillow. A European pillow is a large square pillow. Not exactly sure of the size. I think it is about a 26" square. A European sham is the same thickness of a standard sham that comes with a regular comforter - only it is large and square. It is not filled like a comforter, although it is usually purchased to match or coordinate with a comforter. It has an envelope type opening on the back of it and you stuff your pillow down into it. What is a pillow sham used for? I got a gift with a comforter, a skirty thing, 2 sheets, 2 pillow cases and 2 pillow shams. For the life of me I can not figure out what the pillow shams are for... they open in the middle and are too small for regular pillows so they obviously don't go over the pillow cased pillows. Do I have to buy a second set of pillows.... I'm OK with more pillows, but they are an odd size, smaller than a regular pillow. Where would I get those and what size or style should I ask ... Well a regular pillow should fit and really they are just for decoration. I think your supposed to take the pillow out of the sham to sleep on it, at least thats what my mom told me when I was growing up. If your into a nice looking bed like maybe Martha Stewart then use them...mine however stay in a drawer....(Answered by Stephanie S)
