Small living spaces.?
Recently we bought a small house that has no decorating or life to it what so ever. I have a living area that is fairly small and is boxed like a normal bedroom. I'm hoping to remodel and add some style, however first I need some paint tips on what colors would suit a room like this. Inspirational lavenders and pinks are what I was hoping to paint however I want a almost dark hazelnut color in as well. These colors could be the total opposite of what I actually paint, but I need your help and ideas. thank you.

If you want your room to appear bigger, you should use a monochromatic theme. Although you may think that beige makes the room larger, in reality, the color that makes a room look the largest is robin's egg blue (which is sorta a light blue... look up at the sky... doesn't it look big??) To make the room appear even larger, paint the ceiling the same color as the walls or tone it down one notch but don't paint it a completely different color as this will make the ceiling appear to fall down on your head. ...(Answered by The ReDesign Diva) |

I agree with Dorth, keep your ceiling white and the light green with your lavandar would give it a spa feel. Sponge painting is really easy and maybe you could just do a border of the third color. If you don't like it, you can always paint over it! Lavander looks good with dark wood, but if you plan on painting your cabinets, it can be a pain. The preping and sanding can take a little time to get it right. Semi-gloss is easy to clean in a bathroom too, good choice....(Answered by Ayla B) |

I have a small room that must function as tv/entertaining room. will red and sage work? how?
The room is very small and, the walls are divided by a two inch ledge that is four feet high. The ceiling and top part of the walls are creme colored, and the bottom is wall papered. I want to change the paper, and was thinking of a sage color. Because the room is so small I am not sure if i should use a striped or patterned wall paper or what. I have a dark wood trunk with a very muted red and moss green pattern on it. Other than that, I need all new furniture. In a small ... (Asked by Paige) |

I think sage and burgundy red compliment eachother really well. This is just how I imagine it in my head, and I don't know if you're going for a modern or traditional style. But here goes...
If you can wallpaper, I'd wallpaper the lower half of the chair rail with a slightly bold wallpaper (paisley or fleur de lys), and then paint the top half in a lighter sage, to still give the feeling of airiness). I'd get one chair in a nice wine colour and a couch in a neutral like a medium or dark brown and highlight it with ...(Answered by LilBlossom) |

how to control small bats that live in my verandah false ceiling at dehradun we have tried incense burning?
every summer the leechie fruit ripens in our garden and thousands of FOX BATS emerge from jungles around and devour the fruit. workers make noises and also now we tried putting light bulbs on top of trees but this method is not economical. this question is not related to earlier question on small bats staying in verandah. the small bats are approximately six inches across but the FOX BATS are having wing spans of more than a metre.

I had a friend with a simalar problem with his house here in the US.He had to remove the ceiling to his porch and have the bats removed by a professional pest control person. After the bats were removed he screened off the place they were using to get in and replaced the ceiling.I do not know if it would do you any good since you have so many bats, but he constructed bat houses in the trees around his property to give them somewhere else to stay instead of his house.

You have my deepest sympathies. If you can't afford the primer, then how about a cream glaze, you will need some cream paint and a container of glaze and they will combine to tone down the colors to something bearable. Probably two gallons of paint and a quart of glaze should cost about $55.00. Its put on with a rolled up T-shirt, check out the examples of faux painting at the store, I'm sure you will find a texture you like the look of. You will need a specific kind of concrete paint for the basement floor, about $30.
