Mouse in the house, what to do?
I just met a new very small furry creature hanging out under my washer and dryer. He/she is quite cute, but can not stay. I have two dogs and now understand why they've been sniffing and acting crazy all through the night.
My question is : Has anyone tried the catch and release mouse traps? I will NOT kill this mouse, so don't answer that way. If you've tried them, what did you put inside to catch them and were you successful?
Thanks so much for your help :)

I did. I got something called the mice cube from walmart. It only cost about a buck. It says you could reuse them but for that price i wouldn't. I had a mouse in my kitchen last year. I had used a snap trap when i had one the year before and I felt so guilty I couldn't use another one. I put some peanut butter in the back of the cube and I left it in front of my stove. In less than 2 hours the little guy was in there eating peanut butter and couldn't get out. I ...(Answered by JM) |

Sandpaper and such like won't always work, yes they dont like it and may put off, however some will still get through. Set various traps dotted around area, some salt and others ground level buried containers of beer. All slugs are alcholics and will find the lure of beer more tempting than your strawberries...(Answered by Albertofrog) |

I am so BLUE n' down in the dumps!?
I'm confused....2 questions:
1) I'm really down in the dumps, cuz some neighbour had his apt sprayed for bugs, and suddenly I am next to toss half of my stuff out to the garbage due to friggin bedbugs.
I had to clear out my closets and cupboards, move the plastic covered mattress that was borrowed for while my own mattress was tossed out. tmw is the day of spraying.
I feel SO BLUE, won't be able to sleep tonight at all after a long afternoon of cat-napping. Loss of appetite, ain't looking forward to Summer w/ hot tempretures.

You are NOT a whimp! Don't listen to anyone who calls you that. They probably wouldn't have the guts to complain and are jealous that you do! You have every right to complain and possibly sue the pants of the appartment owners and maybe even the guy who did the de bugging, especially if you weren't warned ahead of time. The owners should at least help pay for replacing your stuff!...(Answered by Rev. Kaldea) |

Is there any way to stop spiders from coming into your house?
I HATE bugs, especially spiders. Can I stop them from coming into the house if I spray the windows and doors with bugspray or will they just walk right past it and come in anyway? Also, is it safe for my dog to sniff bugspray if I spray the bottom of the doors?

Go to Lowes. They sell this stuff in a gallon jug that you can spray inside and outside your house. Outside it will keep bugs and spiders from coming in and spraying it inside will kill the ones already inside. They carry several different brands so just pick one. They cost anywhere from $7-$20. I can't live without the stuff...lol. After it dries (and it dries quick) it is pet and person safe.
I just found the jug of stuff I have. I just wanted to tell you I used Ortho Home Defense Max. I used it about 3 weeks ago ...(Answered by alias1013) |

How are mice getting inside of my BBQ?
Can they climb stainless steel? Today when I got home from work I let my dogs out, they started sniffing around the BBQ so I opened the lid, and there was two of them just walking around underneath the grill surface, this is not the first time, and I'm not cruel enough to light the BBQ and torch them!

Mice are determined little cusses and will go anywhere they smell food. Like the inside of your BBQ. The vasoline on the BBQ legs trick may help..or the little buggers may eat it!
You might try going and finding some pennyroyal plants and tossing some fresh leaves in the BBQ when it is not in use. Pennyroyal is a type of mint and it naturally repels mice and some other vermin. Pennyroyal is NOT good for people to eat, so toss it out of the BBQ before you begin firing it up. It is a non-toxic method in that it does ...(Answered by Gwynyvyr) |

Do I have mould behind my walls or is this normal?
Hey everyone,
I had a bit of an odd discovery; when you rub ANY of the walls in my house, and sniff your hand it smells putrid. The smell wears off after about 6 seconds but if you rub it again and smell your hands - its there again. This happens with pretty much all of the walls in my house and I was wondering what the cause of it could be?
Thanks alot
Stephen
Additional Information -
The house is quite old, its a large victorian style house though it is modernised.
The material on the walls is paint; I wonder if its just the ... (Asked by BritishStephen) |

Hello,
This is odd. It doesn't sound like mould, as that would be dirty and gross. Perhaps just some weird odors......(Answered by Deke) |

How to find a dead possum / rat in wall cavity ??
We had some problems with possums and rats in our roof so called in the pest control people to sort it out. Two possums caught in cages and a few dead rats found in the back yard. Great, we thought, they're gone! Alas, we were wrong....a horrible smell soon invaded our bedroom...putrid!!!!
The hunt was on.....WHERE IS IT?
- It's not in the roof (no smell up there) or in the floor cavity...so has to be in the wall. But which wall?? Don't mind ripping up walls but would prefer to tear open the right one only!
- I can eliminate one wall ... (Asked by lsmrh) |

That's what happens when you use poison. I heard they get thirsty and head for water and a place to hide. Good thing your animals didn't eat them before they died. I'd try the hole drilling; with a straw for a sniffer. If that critter got in there's got to be an entrance -- that needs fixing. Look around for where the flies and bugs are congregating....(Answered by lyyman) |
