Q.
Bamboo planting!?
What is a barrier and how do you install it around your bamboo to keep it from spreading? Also, are there any health risks of having bamboo is your yard? It attracts birds that make alot of you know what and lots of birds can be very noisy. Bamboo can also fold down when in icy or snowy weather. ... (Asked by gardenofeden7)

I installed some bamboo this past fall at customers house. The place where I bought the bamboo sold me a long sheet of 3-4' tall plastic liner which I used to surround the planting bed. They also sold me flat pieces of metal which clamp together and connect the ends. They told me I would prevent 'running' bamboo (clumping bamboo does not require the barrier) from spreading into other area of the yard. If you run into ledge or other areas which can't be dug that deep, however, the plastic can be cut. Bamboo can look very cool. Good Luck http://www.gardenlistings.com...(Answered by riverbirch12345)

Anyone know the offical name of an "Everblooming Cherry" tree?
I've heard tell of a cherry tree called an "Everblooming Cherry" tree. Supposedly it blooms year-round even in snowy conditions (like in the NE). They are featured in the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. I've searched everywhere I can think of using every engine and all I find are news articles refering to them - no nusery or sale sites. Does anyone happen to know the Genus and Species or "official name" for this tree? I'd really like to order one for spring planting! Thanks much! ... (Asked by Concerned In Law)

What part of MN do you live in? If you are in the northern part - no; if you are in southern MN - maybe- you would need some type of greenhouse or sunroom. Broccoli loves cool weather. If you have a greenhouse then you can grow anything that would do well in a container such as: tomatoes, peppers, onions, carrots, lettuce, etc. *remember* plants that flower and then produce fruit or vegtables need to be pollinated (you will need some type of bug to accomplish this - butterfly, lady bugs, etc.)....(Answered by Lodiju)

For May Day on May 1 - do you have any significant memories associated with a particular type of flower?

Starting seeds indoors is dependent on where you live and what you are planting. Each plant has a different date. For instance, tomato plants are started indoors six weeks before anticipated planting outdoors. Each seed packet will give you this information for the climate that you live in. A sunny windowsill will not do as indoor seedlings need about 16 hours of light a day to produce a good, healthy plant. Anything less will give you a leggy, not happy plant. Some seeds like the cold such as lettuce and spinach and can be ...(Answered by juncogirl3)

Hi, I have and will cut my hostas to the ground after having a hard frost here in zone 5 No. IL. I tried an experiment this last August. The plants were getting rather unsightly from slugs, sunburn, etc., so I cut them back to the ground, discarded the leaves into the compost pile. By mid Sept., all the hostas had a new flush of leaves and now look better than ever. This also helped deprive the pests that were attacking them. I will cut these back again soon, as this may help deter left-over plant material that pests thrive on, plus make spring start-up easier. ...(Answered by what'sthis4)

Most people are either not reading the question or are choosing to misinterpret it. *sigh* Chances are you will not find much in nurseries right now; they're focusing on Christmas. That means having to grow from seed, which is a whole separate question. You may even have a hard time finding herb seeds this time of year, and some herbs (like rosemary and bay) aren't grown from seed. But to answer the question you asked: sage, thyme, oregano, parsley, savory, bay, all thrive indoors if given plenty of sun or bright light. Rosemary is a little dicier; it might be hard to ...(Answered by keepsondancing)
