I don't have much luck with votives and anytime I burn them, the little candle holder is put them in is usually ruined forever becuase I can never get all the old wax out. I just bought 2 stemmed votive candle holder as part of my holiday decor and would like to keep them clean-not getting messed up the first time I have to switch candles. I have tried the adding water in the bottom method-but it never works. ... (Asked by Angelstar_BC)

I actually make glass jar candles and I reuse the jars that I use to make my personal candles. What I do is put a little water in a small pan, fill it until it reaches about half of the size of the candle holder. Then heat it until the wax is melted really well and pour the excess wax out. Before the wax dries in the candle holder use a paper towel to dry the inside out. Make sure to wear oven mitts or something because the candle holder will be really hot....(Answered by TakenButDontchaWishYaHadAChance)

Our Happy Plant stem has bent and broken in one spot. Will the plant survive this?
The plant is 2.2m high and during a move, the stem has split about 1/2 way along. It has not broken off completely. We have managed to keep it in one piece but it will not stand up on it's own. The plant is now being held up with the assistance of a stake. Will the stem be able to repair itself and continue to be able to carry water or will this have completely killed the plant? Is there anything we can do to help it repair? ... (Asked by Caz Brown)

Q.
How do you start growing a rose from a piece of stem with no apparent root showing?
I was given a Long Stem White Rose which I placed in a vase with water. The Rose never fully bloomed. Instead, the stem started showing growth and the flower completely died. I cannot see any sign of rooting. How do I accomplish beginning a root base for the stem to continue producing growth for planting? How short should I cut the stem before rooting? Should it be directly below the new growth or should I leave a substantial portion of stem, and how deep should I plant the stem? ... (Asked by gossimermom)

Make sure you cut off any flower or hip(the part under the flower) first. It will use up needed nutrients. If it's a very long stem, cut into 2-3" sections, preferably with a leaf section in each.Cut the bottom at an angle with a sharp knife or razor. Dip bottom end into Rootone or any other rooting compund(available at any garden center). I haven't had any luck with rooting roses in water. Mine do better in a small pot with moist sand. Good luck! PS. Most long stemmed roses are hybrids, so you may not get the same flower you ...(Answered by montine)

Crush an aspirin and place it in the water in the vase. Also, keep fresh water in the vase changing every other day or so. Keep the roses in a cool, dry place. The heat will wilt them faster. You can also cut the stems under running water (cut the stems at an angle) now. This will allow them to soak up the water better....(Answered by cathygirl32)
