Cleaning Stovetop Burners?
I have a Whirlpool stove that has ceramic coated cast iron stovetop burners. The burners are gray, the stove is white. Everything seems to discolor the burners and stick to them, no matter what it is. I'm a clean freak and it drives me crazy!! I've sprayed them with oven cleaner, scrubbed them with SOS pads, etc. Nothing really cleans them very good. Any suggestions of something really simple that I'm missing?

How should I clean the stovetop of an old stove with a pilot light?
I live in an old apartment building and I am still adjusting to having a gas oven. I want to clean the top of my stove, and using a rag and hot water doesn't seem to be doing the trick. All of my cleaning supplies (especially Scrubbing Bubbles, which is what I would normally use for the dried grease mess on top of my stove) say, "do not use near open flame." Although the top of the stove covers the flame, the stovetop is removable and there are airways that reach the pilot light flame. What ... (Asked by Sam) |

I second the idea of using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. These things are amazing! I have an old gas stove in my apartment building as well. I usually dampen a sponge (or magic eraser) and spray it with a cleaning product, then scrub the surface. That usually does the trick....(Answered by Lisa S) |

What's the best way to clean a stovetop grill?
I have bought 2 decent priced stovetop grills. The first one I tossed because I couldn't scrub off the food after I washed it. The second one is doing the same thing.
As of now, I am just spraying Pam on it so that my food doesn't stick (even though the grill is non-stick, I like to be extra sure it won't stick on). Should I be doing something different? Or should I just go all out and spend a buttload on an expensive grill?

Depends on what it's made of but I just throw mine in the oven and set to self clean mode. It burns off all food. If you'r planing on tossing the grill out, give this a try first....(Answered by MagPookie) |

The best way to clean a ceramic cooktop is to sprinkle a nonabrasive cleanser or baking soda over the surface and rub with a synthetic scouring pad or sponge. Rinse well with clear water, and buff with a soft cloth for a clean finish. Here are a few other handy suggestions:
Wait until the top cools to wipe up spills. Never use a wet sponge or cloth on a hot panel.
Don't set soiled pots or pans on the surface; they can mar it permanently.
Abrasive cleaning products will scratch the surface, discoloring it and making it difficult to keep ...(Answered by sweetsugarmay) |
