You need to post how much pressure you have and what size line you are coming off of and what size line you are coming out of the house with, for a good answer. It depends on the pressure and volume. A house can typically support 4-5 heads on a zone. If you have over 50 PSI and are using a 3/4" line, you can use 5 heads with 2GPM nozzles in them....(Answered by Rob)

A.
If the name is toro, or rainbird or any name you see at Home Depot, Target, K-Mart, forget it. Irrigation valves are the part of your system you want to last. Don't buy the cheep homeowners grade. You'll get a year or two out of them & you'll be digging up the pipes again for another set. Skip the home centers & go to a local irrigation / landscape supply company. You want to buy agriculture grade valves. Hunter Irrigation, Hardy Irrigation, Irritrol, Richdel. When doing valves you want professional grade parts. ...(Answered by bobbymyster)

I work for a Sacramento landscape contractor, and we get asked questions like this all the time. The best time to water is in the morning, before the sun gets too hot. Watering during the hot time of day just wastes water, as it evaporates before it can soak in to the soil or it burns the lawn. Watering at night just encourages fungus. Put out a pie tin on the lawn and water for as long as it takes to get about 3/4 of an inch to an inch of water in the pie tin. Check your soil the next ...(Answered by Liz Rich)

A.
Try to let zone 7 run for a while. Check your water meter and see if there is water movement. Also make sure that someone just didn't wire zone 7 to the timer and no zone 7 out in the field. If you feel the timer may be faulty, move the wire from zone 7 and put it on another zone that you know works. You can rent a valve locate from your local irrigation supply house or go and buy the Weathermatic Smartline controller. It has a built in valve locate and is reasonably priced. I still recommend calling a licensed contractor ...(Answered by princeofdaarkness)

IF THE VALVE IS STUCK OPEN THEN WHEN YOU ALLOW WATER TO RUN INTO THE SYSTEM THE ZONE WITH THE STUCK VALVE SHOULD RISE UP AND START WATERING.THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IF IT IS STUCK "OPEN". THE EASY WAY TO FIND THE VALVE IS MARK THE HEADS OF THAT ZONE AND THEN SHUT SYSTEM OFF. yOU CAN USE A PITCHFORK TO STAB THE GROUNG ALONG THE AREA WHERE IT LOOKS LIKE THE LINES ARE LOCATED. THE VALVE BOX IS PROBABLY A FEW INCHES UNDER THE GROUND AND WILL STOP THE FORK. DIG -UP AND REPLACE VALVE. IF THIS DOES NOT ...(Answered by dubbs88)

You'll need to replace the manual valves with electric (solenoid-activated) valves. Once you have the new valves in place, you can wire them up to a timer with 18-gauge wire. Should take about an hour, unless you have to run electric to the timer. Don't forget to wrap the threads on the risers with teflon tape....(Answered by marcinde2001)

Hi, I had same problem in AZ where landscaper put gravel over the box where the valves were. If you can get, borrow, or steal a metal detector, that is the easiest way. Just start at the timer and work away. If not that then you might have to dig and follow the wires from the timer to the valves. It is a lot of work. Good luck, Bob...(Answered by Mr Bingo)
