Is there a way to get a desk open that has the key broken off in it?
My cubicle at work has a desk that locks and my key broke off in it, it's taking maintenence forever to fix it and I have things in it I really need. My different co workers have suggested using a strong magnet and we have tried using fine tools like pliers and needle nose tweezers to try and grip the broken key but to no avail. I am at my wits end and tempted to try a crowbar which I don't know where I will get one but just frustrated. Any suggestions folks?

If the key is still in the lock and has all of the cuts inside you should be able to turn it with and screwdriver. If some of the cuts on the key broke off with the part you still had in your hand find a woodworker. If the have a spiral scroll saw blade snip the fastener on one end and insert it above the key. Press towards the thickest part of the key and gently pull out until you have enough out to grab with pliers. The spiral Saw blade has teeth all around it and has all ...(Answered by b44z) |

Oh my gosh! What makes you think you are old and can't do whatever it is in this world that you would like to do? You have a lot of years left to accomplish anything you want to! There is no reason why you can't get whatever job it is that you want. Education isn't everything! Experience counts for so much! And if you want more education, there's plenty of time for that too. You would probably do better in college now because you have a little maturity and wouldn't take it for ...(Answered by Swajo) |

the best thing you can do is o to Sears and find the manager of the maintenence dept and/or the store. tell them the situation. Sears has stores all over the country and there are all kinds of ways that they can get parts overnight. There is no reason why it should take longer than a week at most to get the part and replace it. The reason they are taking their time is because it is warranty. They are not making any money on this job. If the stove was out of warrqanty then they would be all over ...(Answered by sthrnduff) |

Problem removing old kitchen faucet?
I am trying to replace my kitchen faucet. I have done this before, but never at this house. I can not for the life of me get the old faucet out of there. The nuts are too old and rusted, I have tried a high quality penetrating oil, that didn't seem to work. I am also not too comfortable using a torch, so that's out of the question. There was advice on another website that said just to use a good drill and drill through the nuts since I'm replacing them anyway. I'm not sure if this is really a ... (Asked by AB) |

First of all, you need the right tools for the job. You will need a "basin wrench" which is a long wrench (12-18") that has a head that flips for either tightening or loosening the nuts. This wrench will keep your hands below the bottom of the sink and help prevent "bloody knuckles syndrome". If the nuts are frozen to the point that a basin wrench won't turn them, use a "mini hacksaw" to cut one side of each of the nuts that hold your faucet to the sink. If the nuts are made from ...(Answered by vineyardtech) |

yeah mine are the same, i'm sure you could fork out a couple of extra grand to get completely sealed ones but i think the attitude you have to take is that less air gets in as to when they are open.
not thought about it before but maybe it ensures that you still get at least some circulation to help prevent damp..?...(Answered by Icarus) |
